Monty Python Gets Sirius
I have long been a Monty Python fan. In fact, I was watching their skits and movies long before I should have. Monty Python will always carry a special place for me. In my youth, movies such as The Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning Of Life became classic staples of school conversations, with one liners and scenes that simply resonated and have lasted throughout the years. I am such a fan, the John Clease is the navigation voice on my Tom Tom that guides me as I drive.
Sirius XM’s Monty Python channel launched late last week, and will continue through October 25th. Once again, I can hear the classic comedy that carries a place for anyone who has ever seen one of their movies, or watched their television series. Who can forget the frenchman saying, “Your mother is a hampster and your father smells of elerberries”
If you have not caught the Monty Python channel yet, make it a point to tune to Sirius channel 105 or XM channel 151. If you have a favorite Monty Python moment, you can request it during special “Monty Python Request” shows that will air each day. Tune in, and bring back all of the troops classics.
“Bring out your dead . . bring out your dead!”
“I’m not dead yet.”
“Quiet, you’ll be stone-dead in a minute.”
Me too Spence! “Dead-parrot” sketch my all-time favorite . . (“look, there, he moved”)
Signed,
Mr. Gumby
I haven’t listened to any of the specials Sirius has broadcast over the last several years.
However, I tuned in right away for Monty Python. I had never hear “Dead Parrot” before and it was a kick.
But the other one I had never heard before that really gave me a boot was “Eric, the half a bee.”
classic stuff that is still funny 40 years after- Kuddo’s for Sirius/XM to bring this type of special programming to it’s subscribers- It would be great if they could add some of the Fawlty Towers bits on Laugh USA.
Rich, I had an English friend who introduced me to Fawlty Towers. Otherwise, I would never have know about it.
John Cleese is an incredibly funny guy.
James- your friend has good taste π
They just released a remastered DVD box set to celebrate the 30yr anniversary.
I hope Laugh USA brings other briticom bits from:
Are you being served?, (They already play Benny Hill), Black Adder, The Young ones, Black Books, and many more
I think you have a good idea about more British, or just English speaking comics being broadcast on Laugh USA
As I read your post, I remembered an Irish comedian who used to be on PBS.
His last name was Allen, the first was maybe David.
In any case, his storys were quick and to the punch line. Such as, two Irish meet and one says, “Let’s play golf tomorrow.” “I can’t”, the second replied, “me half brother died.”
Undeterred, the second says, “Well, you can play nine holes!”
Yep -Dave Allen- rememeber him well- the catholic church tried to ban his program- he was back to back in NY in the early 80’s with The Benny Hill show- When it was fun to watch network/independent tv π
carry on nudge nudge
blessed are the cheese makers! lol
dont forget the naked boob every once and awhile π
