Sirius XM Brings Back Strobe and Backspin
Sirius XM subscribers complained like hell and management finally listened. Starting January 15th you’ll have the disco/classic dance you can stand on Strobe and all the old school hip-hop your woofers can handle on Backspin.
Sadly, some of the loudest voices I have heard here at SiriusBuzz were yelling for the return of the Boombox channel but… no word yet.
Additionally, The Beat Morning Show will launch on BPM on January 15. The daily show will feature popular dance hits and be hosted by former Beat program director Geronimo.
“Bringing back The Strobe and Backspin, and adding The Beat Morning Show, is part of our commitment to respond to our subscribers’ overwhelming passion for our service,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SIRIUS XM Radio. “We are fortunate to have an enthusiastic audience that embraces satellite radio with unprecedented fervor. We will continue to listen to them as we strive to create the best audio entertainment experience available.”

The return of Strobe is great news but
South Florida just started an oldies dance station at 93.9 MIA this morning. Thanks for helping us get a new dance station Sirius/XM !!!
“Please don’t pollute this site with your nonsense again. You are very annoying, and you sound like an idiot. Thank you.”
Steve-O, you sound like the white trash hermit that you are. Accusing someone else of being an idiot. GEEZ! Not only did you play up stupid and ignorant stereotypes but you revealed the type of retard that you are. I know exactly what he’s talking about because I used to breakdance in my youth. I happen listen to Backspin and I’m neither “gangsta” nor “ghetto.” That’s my taste in music, so f— off!! You don’t have to like it but it’s coming back. You ever heard of a radio knob? Use it!
Thank you for bringing backspin back…one of my favorites. I subscribed to Sirius mostly for Howard Stern and good music….you can get rid of all the other goofy chit like Martha Stewart and Kid’s channel(WTF Really?)…doctor radio..news channels..sports talk and more sports talk.
If you are serious about listening to your customers, then bring back MOVIN’ EASY. The Escape (76) isn’t even close to being a replacement. If you want to insist that it is, then simply change the programing on Escape to the former great Movin’ Easy programing and we’ll be satisfied.
I was really enjoying Pop2K. It was fast becoming my favorite channel. I’d rather see Hits 1 go or either of the 2 replacing channels. Why not just add it to the line up? Boo Sirius!
This is good, now could you please play just a few songs that were actually hits on the 60s, 70s and Soultown stations. Not everyone wants to hear the wide playlist. I switched to Sirius because XM plays 9/10 songs from the B side. There’s a reason some songs didn’t sell – because they stink. And we don’t need to pay to hear them now.
And the Jazz linup must be restored, or I doubt I’ll stay with Sat. radio. Enough is enough. Need Planet Jazz and at least one more. See the old Sirius linup.
Thanks for bringing back the old school hip hop. For old school guys like me we to have it on a daily bases. After the merger i had nothing to fill the void of Backspin. Much love. Thanks again.
What a horrible decision to ditch Pop2K for “old skool rap”.
I’ve already complained to Sirius.
There is nothing left that plays hits from this decade…
thanx a lot 4 bringin backspin back!!! old skool hip hop 4ever!!
Backspins Back! Oh happy day!
To complete this we need more BOOMBOX!
where is the strobe? not back yet if so what channel
i had sirius for one reason… the strobe. i like disco/dance music and the strobe was perfect for me. when it dissappeared, my subscription to sirius disappeared. they said “there wasn’t enough demand for it”… that’s why they did away with it. sure, that makes sense. they must be right because no one (except me) likes disco/dance music. people that are at nightclubs, bars, lounges and private parties must all be crazy for dancing and listening to it. the djs that play it must be retarded for actually playing it. rock music is what has energy and a beat to it… right? thats the stuff you want to go to a nightclub and dance to.
the 33 rock/pop station on sirius isn’t enough. EVERY channel should be rock. after all, i think it makes perfect sense to pay for 33 rock stations when you can listen to 15 or so of them on the fm dial in any major city for free! more rock stations!!!
what sirius should really do is create a “DISCO SUCKS” station dedicated to all the people who love rock music.
Glad they brought the Strobe back! I listen to it every day! Thanks management for bringing the Strobe Back!
