Last.FM And SqueezeBox Tout Scrobbling
Last.fm helps you discover music and connects you with your favorite music. The service uses your unique taste to find new music, people, and concerts you’ll like. Based on your personal music profile, Last.fm generates:
- Customized radio stations of music you’ll like
- New music to discover
- Concert listings in your area
- Personal top charts, and much more…
Scrobbling on your Squeezebox is easy, and just another reason that I have highly recommended the Logitech Squeezebox Duet. All you need to do is:
- From the SqueezeCenter Home screen go to Settings and select: Advanced > Last.fm. On Squeezebox Network go to Accounts > Music Services and select the Last.fm tab.
- Once you’ve scrobbled some music, visit your Last.fm dashboard for new music and concert recommendations, charts, musical neighbors and more.
- Tune in on your Squeezebox: Go to Music Services > Last.fm to find your personalized radio stations.
I wish the Squeezebox had a portable player.
I also wish that it could pick up the online XM.
I would buy one with either of those two conditions. You make it sound like an awsome thing Tyler.
Well portable would be a bit sketchy since it needs a wireless network to function. However, check out their Squeezebox Boom, which is an integrated Squeezebox with speakers. I just added one to my bedroom, and piped my TV audio through it using the line-in output. It sounds great, and it’s easy to pick up and move out to the patio – anywhere you have power and access to your wireless network. With the synchronizing features in the latest SqueezeCenter, I can have the Squeezebox Boom on the patio and the Squeezebox attached to the living room entertainment center in sync playing the same stream, increasing the music range for my party.
I agree, I can’t say enough about these things. They also act as a wireless bridge, so you can connect a PC or other wired network device directly into it and feed the wireless signal to the wired-only device through the Squeezebox. They’ve even added an alarm feature so the Boom can double as your alarm clock, with multiple alarms completely configurable in ways your standard alarm clock could never dream.
