Sirius XM Adds Certified Pre-Owned Ford and Lincoln Mercury Vehicles to its Free Trial List
I have always been a huge advocate for free trials to new customers so, it will come as no surprise that I think this is great news BUT… why do people buying a used car get a 3 month trial while new BlackBerry application users only get 7 days? I am sure some over-thinker has crunched the numbers but, you can’t in one breath tell us that you have a hugely diverse lineup of programming and then in the next breath tell us we only have 7 days to get a taste of it all!
Ford will continue to offer Sirius as a factory installed feature with a 6 month subscription of Sirius included on most new Ford and Lincoln Mercury vehicles.
more great news! this is a great way to build subscribers. another positive move for sirius xm!
With Ford’s momentum at the present moment…Gotta to be good for a few more subs.
That’s an easy one. Because Ford pays for the trial whereas nobody pays for a cellphone trial.
What does a 7 day trial on the blackberry cost them? Maybe a few pennies? I bet it’s far less then the current SAC.
Just because they get paid for the auto subs doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make sense to give away free mobile trials. Clearly, because they are doing it today.
Why does Ford pay Sirius for these trials? If given the choice I would assume that Sirius would give the trials away for free. It’s not like it costs them a penny more to broadcast to one extra receiver.
Closed at .86 today. Good day of trading.
Ford pays the sub fee for the OEM trial period. So do most of the car companies.
Yeah, we know. The question was WHY? Sirius XM benefits from these subs and it doesn’t cost them anything. If none of the OEMs paid, Sirius XM would wind up giving the subs away for free.
Why?? LOL Good Lord It’s a great business deal. Sirius gets PAYING sub revenue in addition to being able to market their service to car owners and the car companies are willing to pay since it is such an attractive selling point to new and used car buyers and they get a rev share on converting subs.
Why??? Come on…….
I guess you are choosing not to read my question.
WHY is Ford willing to pay Sirius XM? When we all know Sirius XM would give those trials away for free if there were no other option. I am not asking WHY Sirius XM takes the money, that part is clear.
Repeat –
the car companies are willing to pay since it is such an attractive selling point to new and used car buyers and they get a rev share on converting subs.
Please, you are giving me a headache. Where is Spencer?
You are missing my point. Why pay when you dont have to? If the auto manufactures collectively said they would not prepay for these subs I assure you that Sirius XM would still wind up giving them away for free.
Its almost like the auto manufactures don’t see that they have Sirius XM by the nuts. Sirius XM needs them to sell their product, the auto manufactures do not need Sirius XM to sell theirs (although it might help).
What in the world happened to Tyler/Spencer? Is he ok? He just disappeared!
Folks….lets keep it together. Not that long ago this company was at the brink of the abyss. Nothing but positive momentum for the past several months thanks to Liberty. This company generates far too much cash flow to be going anywhere. Patience is key. We are nearing the dollar mark and WILL surpass that point. Don’t forget that not that many years ago this company was being traded for $60 per share. Buy in now. Hang in for the long term, and you will be handsomely rewarded on this investment…..
Or you can listen to morons like boo boo and miss the boat. Your choice.
