Bill Mack Leaves Sirius XM
The Bill Mack Show debuted on Sirius XM in early 2009, and was popular to country music fans and truckers. Bill Mack did announce that he is not retiring, and will once again reach the airwaves in some manner. In a note to his listeners Mack stated the following:
“There are a lot of rumors making their mark pertaining to my leaving Sirius-XM. Allow me to present the facts:
First of all, I was not fired by the company. There were some negotiations, but nothing was presented that sparked any interest for the future. As a matter-of-fact, negotiations were active until ten minutes before my final broadcast.
I did not exit Sirius-XM because of health issues. My health is super good, thank God. Cindy is also in great shape (wow!). My friend A.J., at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Fort Worth, informed us that there was also a rumor making the rounds stating that I had died!!!!! This, I can assure you, is an exaggeration!
I had hoped to remain with Sirius-XM for awhile. It was fun! However, after receiving details of the merger of Willie’s Place with the Roadhouse channel, I discussed things with Cindy and we agreed that it was time to make our exit. This does not apply to my good pal, Willie Nelson. We’ve been “sidekicks” for years … and that will continue! I also hope the new Willie’s Roadhouse is a success.
I also want to stress the fact the I am not retiring. Radio is still a “fun-game” to me. As long as I have a workable voice and enjoy being with my radio listeners (my broadcast “family”), I plan to remain in action. As I have stressed many times, my “listeners” are my bosses. I’ve always referred to those special people who allow me to be a part of their day (night) as being treasured friends! My job was to fulfill what they wanted to hear! That’s one reason we have always utilized the telephone, e-mail … and the post-office. Ignoring the requests/suggestions of those caring individuals would be an insult!
Keep viewing this website for our plans for the future. Some of those plans are already being put to deep study.
Right now, Cindy and I are playing more golf (she keeps winning!). We also think about our “radio family” on a daily basis. Yes, we miss you tremendously!
Please continue prayers for those serving us in the military.
God bless all of you! Cindy sends her love … with mine.”
When Sirius XM initially announced the Bill Mack show Scott Greenstein said, “”BILL MACK is a Country music radio icon and will fit in perfectly with his good friend WILLIE NELSON on SIRIUS XM’s WILLIE’S PLACE channel.”
The loss of Mack is certainly a blow to the country music side of Sirius XM’s programming, but the company is moving forward with content that is unparalleled. I would imagine that Mack will wind up doing a podcast or hooking onto a terrestrial radio station in the near future.
The Sunday Social was enough reason for my subscription to Sirius XM. I would listen to it on the way to church then make suggestions to the choir director about an old hymn I would like to here at our church. I sure hope the two sides will reconsider and work something out if only to bring the Sunday Social back on the air.
with out BILL MACK &SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC kiss xmsirius goodby!!
Very sorry Bill to not be able to listen to your show. XM radio made a big mistake. TRUE COUNTRY MUSIC. I became a member in April. Cancelled in July after your show was no longer on XM radio. God Bless you and Cindy. Hurry back,Jim Archer.
I miss Bill and Cindy, new programming is not great. I don’t think I’ll renew xm.
My wife and listen to Bill Mack’s Sunday Social every Sunday on the way to church and we really liked the great hymns that Bill played we were very sorry to hear that Bill Mack was cancelled from XM Sirus radio I sure hope that the XM radio will reconsider putting Bill Mack back on the air.
I miss the true country & western music. I liked the way he had music from Texas singers I have never heard before. James hand,
amber digby an so on. You don’t hear that in Kentucky. I don’t listen to roadhouse I went to patriot news an fox now. When expires
I will go back to cds&youtube music.
Dear Bill & Cindy,
Gosh i listed to your show for years. Was so shocked when I went to listen to it an you an sweet Cindy were gone..You both are missed soooo much…My 2 austic boys miss truman also…Well take care an maybe some day you will be back on xm. Please let us know if that happens…
Yours truly,
Bill an Family
Glad he is gone. He has bored the hell out of me for decades.
Sam, I’m just curious…what kind of person would sit and listen to someone who has “bored the hell out of me” for years???
Right on, Doris. Why in the world would someone look up this site, take the time to read comments about Bill Mack, and then say he was bored by him for decades? Sounds to me like Sam is a person who is bored by a lot of things and maybe needs to get a life! At least those of us who love classic country have something we love and enjoy and aren’t afraid to say so. If you didn’t like Bill Mack, there were plenty of other channels to turn to. We miss Bill and hope he comes back.
I think you are underestimating just who it is that listens to Bill Mack. Just because we enjoy the Bill Mack type of Country Music doesn’t mean we are a bunch of inconsequential people. We have a wide range of interests and enjoy SOME of your other programs, but definitely do not enjoy the smutty type of stuff heard on other channels. I think the people who listen to Howard Stern and others of that type are your REALLY inconsequential listeners. I love the Sirusly Sinatra program, the You Docs and symphony, jazz, blues, and the Jeff Foxworthy type of comedy.
Please consider bringing Bill Mack back.
Boys and Girls, I never said nor implied that you were inconsequential people nor that I do not liek classic country music. what I said was Bill Mack bores me to tears and I am glad he is gone. I subscribe to XM online sdo I can listen to it in foreign countries where I reside two weeks per montjh. Sometimes in the pst it was a choice between listening to Mack or Larry King just to hear the spoken English word. Tough choice. I am glad they are both gone. The midnight rerun was twice the jeopardy. You all should be the ones to get a life. See ya.
Sam, I think you should just listen to CD’s and/or get an IPOD. They do come in English. As for me, I liked to listen to Bill and Cindy and miss the commentary that went along with the music. Listening to him made it seem like he was interacting more on a personal level as I heard the stories that went along with the music. If you don’t like commentary, then just listen to boring music without any frills!
Dear Judy,
Thank you for the information and advice. Bottom line is that the majority of the listeners agree with me. Along with the powers that be at Sirius XM managment. Sorry, Babe. It is economics 101. If the Program Director, owners(shareholders), board of directors, etc. could lock in more listeners with Bill and Sweet Cindy than say Dallas Wayne Bill Mack would still be there. This is democracy in action. You lost. Check out Bill’s website and maybe you can find a local station that you can catch him on. He might even sell some rcordings of his great moments in broadcast history along with an autographed copy of “Drinking Champagne.” I do have a very extensive collection of great country songs on an Ipod. Sound advice. Again, have a great life.
As always,
Sam
You know, Sam, some people just can’t stop trying to prove they are right. Why on earth did you ever feel the need to add your negative comments when everyone else on here has been saying they miss Bill Mack? I guess it gives you pleasure just to read your own comments. And I do have a great life. I don’t enjoy tearing people down.
Dear Judy,
I do not care what “everybody” else says. I call ’em like I see ’em. You are the one who countered my opinion. I never challenged anyone else’s opinion. They are entitled to their’s as I am mine. He is gone, I am happy, you are not. Sorry you did not get your way. Not really sorry. Happy is more like it.
It has been really fun but I do not want to be your pen pal any longer. Sparing with you is not much of a challenge. It is like you brought a knife to a gun fight. “See ya on the radio.” (Dallas Wayne-A REAL DJ)
Sam, I will only say one more thing…I feel sorry for you.
Dear Judy,
Why don’t you ask Gary “Catfish” Hightower, Killroy and Country Dan Dixon how it feels to take one for the team at XM? They are real DJ’s and not a cross between “Whispering?” Bill Anderson, Oprah and Dr.Phil. If you don’t know who they are well they were axed prior to Bill Mack and Sweet Cindy, give me a break, were even on the channel. You go girl! Sorry I will not see any of more of your replies. Send them anyway. Others out there might enjoy them.
Dear Judy,
Great counter! You must have been the captain of the debating team! That certainly proved all of the vague, unrelated, sophomoric (look it up) points you have tried to make over the last few comments. Last thought before I put all of your future drival in the spam folder: Why did our dear friend, owner, country music legend, alleged and I believe convicted marijuana user, “Shotgun” Willie Nelson not keep his “good friend” Bill Mack and Sweet Cindy on HIS station? Answer: More listeners (equates to money) with other DJ’s. See ya, Babe!
Judy,
I gave you a couple of hours to come charging out of your den with your rapier wit to try to eviscerate me digitally. I got tired of waiting for the dull barbs, When you get the home 20 corralled for Bill, “Sweet Cindy” and whatever pseudo wrangler they had hanging out at the studio to provide quality entertainment to the masses who felt they were on stage just for them and their travels down the highway ten of life. I am sure you will be pleased with the genuine sincerity you will be welcomed. Just remember to wear a name tag and have your wallet close at hand The joy will be exponential if you follow those simple rules. Might want to hold the pic of space cadet Willie close to the chest until you see how Bill and “Sweet Cindy” will react to having the likeness of the man who supposedly owns the company who fired them in the same room with them at their humble little abode. I don’t see him coming back. I see Larry King hosting a beauty pageant on CNN in RIO before Mack is back on XM,
Well, Judy, I just felt I owed you the opportunity to shine and convince me that Bill Mack was wonderful one more time. That is what you wanted to do in the beginning wasn’t it, before you tried to show me how witty and knowing you ar? Again, Judy, if you are going to take a knife to a gunfight, have one of your friends sharpen it for you, You are out of your league. Not trying to be mean. Just don’t jump in when all you have to offer are platitudes, homilies and quitsie little sayings. Sorry. It is tough with the big boys. You few on these sites just feed off each other,. Pretty sick, Can’t take an objective input. Here it is Bill Mack, Sweet Cindy (gag) and the other voices are losers or they would be on the channel. Period. Have a nice night.
Sam,
If you would take the time to check out the Sirius XM demographics, and ratings you would come to realize that these folks are right. The ratings are away down without Bill&Cindy.Although I respect your opinion,I most certainly don,t agree with it,and I “am”in the big league.
Respectfully,
Ed
Sam, I have never seen so many grammatical errors, misused and mispelled words, and lack of punctuation in a post. Once again, I feel sorry for you.
Re Sam’s unrealistic comments,
Have you never heard of simple radio broadcast ratings? Just check out Willie’s Roadhouse ratings after Bill&Cindy left. Need I say more?
check all the ratings out you wantt boys and girls. He is gone gone gone, I predict he will stay that way and the majority feel we are better for it. If you thought he was so hot you would ahve enticed mega listeners to support him instead I beleive the gurus saw the power fading whe he was on. If it rose he woud still be there. Sorry. Maybe he can go to El Paso or some place and pull in a following. Not all over the USA Hit the the road Jack! That is waht I have been advocating all along. I am happy. See ya. Bottom Line is : Bill and his wagon train of losers are gone! Even his “good friend” Willie could not overcome the economics of it. Sorry Bill. Willie might not me as close as you thought,.
To all of you naysayers….I have won-he is gone. You lost- he is gone. Hard to beat the plain truth. Maybe get Barrack to fix it for you, Probably Bush’s fault anyway. See ya,
Having trouble listening to the Roadhouse noon to 3:00 show without Bill Mack. The music selection is too predictable and flat without the commentary of Bill. Trying to listen to Bluegrass and outlaw but just dissappointed in Sirius for letting Bill get away. Also miss the Sunday Gospel and Cindy every day. Please bring Bill back!!!
We have tried to enjoy Sirus for about 4 months since Bill Mack left. We still enjoy the music, but miss the conversation and also the Sunday social. It is so sad to have to lose something you enjoy and we looked forward every day to Bill Mack. Since Bill left we just found ourselves listening less and less often. We tuned in again today and it is almost boring.. Since it appears Sirus is not going to reconsider we will just let our subscription expire and listen to our local country music station. Hopefully Bill Mack is doing OK and he will find a station that will allow interesting conversation and good music.
I always looked forward to listening to Bill Mack show. I really hope you come back to Willy’s place. I miss you, the radio just isn’t the same
We really miss Bill Mack and crew. We travel a couple times a year from CA to LA and always listen to his show. I knew something was AFU when we were notified by Sirus Radio of the channel changes. Sam I for one think you are a jerk. You write with hate and must have had a terrible childhood. You must be a charm to work with and or for. Judy don’t feel sorry for Sam. He has not heart! And for George’s post I will also let my subscription to Sirus expire. Bill and Cindy I wish you all the best.
Suffice to say, Sirius is not the same anymore without Bill & Cindy. I’ll be listening to them whenever and wherever they find a new format. I’m thinking there’s not quite as much use for Sirius anymore.
Well, How is it going folks? Evil Sam here just checking to see if you are still whinning about your loss of entitlements to the will of the majority. The bottom line rules. No mega bucks leaping in from the geriatric crowd then they will get someone else to supply funds from their demographics. Capitalism 101. Best of luck to Bill, Sweet Cindy and the pseudo wranglers that hung around bloviating. Glad they are gone. Keep the cards and letters coming. I find thenm entertaining. See ya on the radio.
Evil Sammy….I really thought your Mommy made you stop playing on the internet!
Karen Bertrand: The following is the form letter that I send to Internet stalkers such as yourself. Since you seem to take a certain amount of plleasure from hassling me I will include a personal post script for you!
Dear Concerned Person,
Thank you very much for your heartfelt opinion on this subject. It is always wonderful to hear what others who are as well read and educated as yourself have to say.
Rest assured that this subject is very dear to me in a very personal way. Your opinion will definitely be analyzed and evaluated. If further information or comment is required I will have one of my people be in touch with you as time permits.
You are encouraged to get in touch with me at any time, to have a dialog on any subject, in as much detail as you choose. Keep those cards and letters coming.
Again, thank you for your valued opinion. It is people like yourself that makes America what it is today.
Have a stress free and fulfilling day. See you online!
Warmest regards,
PS Dear Karen, I have been trying to catagorize the feelings I have when you send me personal musings for at least 30 seconds. It is either the repulsion I felt for my first ex wife or how I felt when I caught the clap from a Columbian prostitute-for the first time. Not the feelings entertained during the act of the actual disease transfer but the symptoms it manifested 5-10 days later.
As always,
Evil Sammy (So dubbed)
Dear Whatever Your Name Is,
You are the one who continually emails me. Everything you have ever received from me is in the form of a reply to your harassment whenever I post. That is why I referred to you as an Internet stalker. Anyway, so you get a more complete pic of me I have enjoyed prostitutes all over the world. for decades. It is fun. They are fun.
So, how is the resurrection of Bill Mack coming along? Rhetorical question, don’t bother to answer.
See ya on the Internet!
Evil Sammy (so dubbed)
Now I know what is really wrong with you…the clap from a prostitute! How classy! By the way, my name is not Karen…again, must be the clap (or crap) working on you. Well, anyway, this has sunken to a new low when all most of wanted is to hear Bill Mack again on Sirius. Here’s hoping he is well and happy in any new venture he is pursuing. We certainly could use his Sunday morning show right now.
tuning off no bil mack dont like the rest
Just finished a 30 day driveing from California to Florida. Returned back to San Diego this past Sunday. Had a wonderful time taking on the famous Route 66 from Joplin, MO to Amarillo, TX. Listened to the RoudHouse everey do while driven the “Roads less travaled. I would havr been a lot better it we could had been listing to Bill snf sweet Cendy. They are aq great team. Eat crow,”Fried” or “Baked” and grt over this shit fight. Without Bill and Cindy it makes a long driving day just get longer. What can we, as suporting fans, do to get them back on the air????? Please advise soonest.
Can’t do anything to bring them back. They are failures and did not make the cut. You are in the minority. Sorry.
My wife and I sure miss your program. Especialy on Sunday morning. The station is really lacking these days.
The Bill Mack Show was our favorite. Being professional truck drivers, we find very little GREAT, CLEAN entertainment to listen to on the road. I wish there were a way you could renegotiate with Bill and Cindy and bring them back to Sirius -XM Radio. We really enjoyed the Sunday Social. It isn’t that easy to find a place to worship, and we found their show as an adequate mobile church.
Have listened to Bill Mack for years. I really miss the Sunday Social. The music they play now is not gospel music as I know it.I drive a truck and have talked with alot of drivers and we all miss Bill Mack on XM/Sirrus. Ottie Smith
It is so obvious that “evil sammy”, sam, sam h. has no life. Why else would a (big) person get on a site that he has no interest in and crticize people that he has no interest in.
I am pretty sure that I know who he is. If so, he is a lifeless pessimist who’s taste is only in his mouth….along with the trash he talks! You come from the generation that we should actually FEAR. You have no respect for anyone or anything and especially not your elders. If you are such a “radio brain” why are you not on a channel of our own? Because you are NOTHING! And our reference to your 1st ex-wife…..I feel for her not you. But when she became your EX she dumped a load getting rid of you.
Now as far as Bill Mack and Sweet Cindy you have really crossed so many lines. If you could even muster up 1/1,000,000th of the class that these people have it our would be miraculous….never happen. I’m sure that a Columbian prostitute is the closest you have been to someone appreciating any part of your miserable existence. Leave these people alone….get a life…haul a load…do whatever you do! I know who you are but I didn’t want to completely expose you yet! Misery loves attention and company….explains why you entertain our own psyche with these stupid comments. Believe me Bill Mack will back on the radio before you can muster up an intelligent comment! When you look in the mirror it should make you nauseated. Grow up….it’s time! GOD BLESS YOU! HA!
I miss Bill Mack and Sweet Cindy. They are a class act!
They always make Fort Worth, Tx proud!
My wife and I really enjoyed the Bill Mack and Cindy on XM Willies Place. When he left I cancelled two accounts with XM radio.
I have been listening to Bill Mack since 1960. I was in the Air Force serving as a corpsman at Wilford Hall Hospital at Lackland Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. I worked the midnight shift and listened to him every night.
Sam, after reading your posts, I conclude that you need to go back on your meds. You are a hopeless case to be pitied. You love to be the center of attention. You are what we call in Texas an “educated idiot”. Bill Mack is an icon in the C&W industry and I wish him, Sweet Cindy, Billy and all the family the very best. We will hear from Bill again…Take that to the bank Mr. Sam.
Bill,I realy miss you and the family alot.I was off work for 2 years taken care of my dad whose passed January of this year from cancer.I was all excited to get back out here on the road driven and lissen to Bill Mack Show.Could not find you on my Roady xm.Found Dale Summers But no Bill.I was very up set.I got on my lab top and here you left me a message. What a break I got.Thank You All for keeping me informed.Tell The Family I said Hello and may GOD BLESS YOU EACH AND EVERYONE.BE safe radio family Cheryl And Matthew Porter
Hi guys
I like a lot of people out their have be a Fan of
Bill &Cindy on Willies Show for a long time , No matter
what part of the USA or Candia I was in , Having them on the
Air was like getting a Call on the Phone from a Familie member, Now some of you may never know what I am Saying unless you get in a Truck an leave home an Familie for 30-60 days or more, with out seeing your familie, an New country Music is grate , But not all of us are that crazy about today’s music, an love the ole Honkey Tonk western Swing , Bill has been around around us so long he gets it, an has been on the radio when we are driving on Ice, an in Storms, an in crazy traffic , letting him get away will prove to
be a Mistake, if you need to sale Adds on XM to pay for him you might want to
get started,
When did Bill Mack leave? I just now realized that he was no longer on Sirius XM. That goes to show you, that I DID NOT miss him. He was so rude at times, just a big bag of wind!
Who is this Sam jerk? Get an education, my friend!
Rog,
Must hurt to be on the losing end of democracy/capitalism. Amen to Becky Cole’s posting of November 7. You losers are fun to verbally spar with. You think with your emotions. Not like the grand patriarch Willie who canned his boring program because it was eating into his bottom line. Get a life, Rog.
My husband and I truly miss listening to Bill and Cindy and can’t wait for them to be back on the radio again. Best wishes to them.
Waiting for Bill and Cindy to get back on the air. Hurry, please.
Dear Bill &Cindy we miss you guys, we looked forward to listening to both of you and your offspring, on a trip as well at home.Any plans yet? Hope you guys get back on somewhere which i know you could if you wanted to. Probably like the golfand have ing fun for awhile.Bill give Cindy a hug for us. Ken&CeCe napa ca
sirius xm just isnt the same with out bill and cindy. Please bring them back!!! seriously thinking about cancelling all five of my subscriptions
I remember listening to Bill Mack way back when he was on 820 AM (I think) in the Dallas Fort Worth area with his all night show-and tho I thought he was a bit egotistical I enjoyed the show. Then when I retired (trucker) I was thrilled to learn he had a daytime show on Sirius-XM radio. Then suddenly the show is gone and I find out today why after downloading this website. An article in last Sunday’s paper (Roanoke, Va. Times) entitled “Is Sirius in serious trouble?” After reading all the comments here, it’s obvious Sirius needs to re-invent the Bill Mack Show—period.
When Sirius and XM mereged, we as listeners lost a lot not only Bill Mack but also programs on the classis radio channel I think Sirius has shot itself in the foot and they will pay the price by the loss of subscribers, maybe not right away but people will get tired of the cuts to service they have made, completly ruined the classis country music channel with the loss of some young performers, a little bit of willie goes a long way and dealt a serious blow to classic radio and lord only knows where else they have cut, cancellation is surely in my furture and sooner than later if the rumored price increase is going to happen after the first of the year
They need to get the XM people back and let them run the show Sirius is to busy paying millions out to people who really don’t earn the money.
As far as Sam goes anyone who answers his remarks are just as uninformed as he is
cant come to terms?, but they pay that stupid trashy howard stern mega millions for the garbage he spews out onto the air waves. they need to fire the bean counter programming execs, what a joke they are!
Sirius made a BIG mistake in not working out an agreement with Bill Mack. I keep hoping you all will come to care for subscribers and give them what they desire. Thanks Jack. A faithful subscriber since 2003.
Hi Mack & Cindy:
My husband and I miss your quality broadcasting of the old classics, what country music once was and is no longer
We miss hearing the Sunday morning Christian music programs when you invited us into your home. How we enjoyed hearing the great old songs and hymns that are not heard as frequently as they once were.
Your entertainment was the reason for our purchase of Sirius XM. We still listen, but it’s a matter of time before we do not renew. We are weary of hearing so much repetition, and as much as I enjoy hearing Willie … enough is enough.
Hearing your personal iterrviews of favorite entertainers, many who have now passed away, was an extra bonus. You must have an awesome library of the past that will never be replaced.
Merry Christmas and may the Lord richly bless you and your loved ones.
Helen Kircher
Well Bill& Cindy i think you played enough golf, you need to git back on radio give us something to enjoy. I wish you would keep us posted as to your plans. My wife was mad that i let them renew with out you & cindy. I dont think i will do it agian… Best of luck, Hank &Margie Martin
When Bill quit, I stopped listening to Willies place for a few months. I came back because of Dallas DW. It is just not the same radio channel without Bill. There is no Family feeling…
I really miss Bill Mack as he has a lot of info about different people especially the older ones. Since I have had my XM subscription in which it then went to Sirius it has been a much different format for me I am terribly displeased with it. I still feel that the worst mistake that they could make is when they let Bill go. Is there any way I can get some info on Bill’s 2 sad cd’s? The prices and any other info on it. Is there a website for Bill Mack?
