Bill Mack Leaves Sirius XM
Sometimes changes have unintended consequences. Sirius XM recently announced a new channel line-up that not only changed the channels that stations air on, but had some channels merge as well. One such change was the merging of Willie’s Place and Roadhouse. As a result of this channel merge, The Bill Mack Show will no longer exist, as Mack and Sirius XM could not come to agreeable terms.
The Bill Mack Show debuted on Sirius XM in early 2009, and was popular to country music fans and truckers. Bill Mack did announce that he is not retiring, and will once again reach the airwaves in some manner. In a note to his listeners Mack stated the following:
“There are a lot of rumors making their mark pertaining to my leaving Sirius-XM. Allow me to present the facts:
First of all, I was not fired by the company. There were some negotiations, but nothing was presented that sparked any interest for the future. As a matter-of-fact, negotiations were active until ten minutes before my final broadcast.
I did not exit Sirius-XM because of health issues. My health is super good, thank God. Cindy is also in great shape (wow!). My friend A.J., at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Fort Worth, informed us that there was also a rumor making the rounds stating that I had died!!!!! This, I can assure you, is an exaggeration!
I had hoped to remain with Sirius-XM for awhile. It was fun! However, after receiving details of the merger of Willie’s Place with the Roadhouse channel, I discussed things with Cindy and we agreed that it was time to make our exit. This does not apply to my good pal, Willie Nelson. We’ve been “sidekicks” for years … and that will continue! I also hope the new Willie’s Roadhouse is a success.
I also want to stress the fact the I am not retiring. Radio is still a “fun-game” to me. As long as I have a workable voice and enjoy being with my radio listeners (my broadcast “family”), I plan to remain in action. As I have stressed many times, my “listeners” are my bosses. I’ve always referred to those special people who allow me to be a part of their day (night) as being treasured friends! My job was to fulfill what they wanted to hear! That’s one reason we have always utilized the telephone, e-mail … and the post-office. Ignoring the requests/suggestions of those caring individuals would be an insult!
Keep viewing this website for our plans for the future. Some of those plans are already being put to deep study.
Right now, Cindy and I are playing more golf (she keeps winning!). We also think about our “radio family” on a daily basis. Yes, we miss you tremendously!
Please continue prayers for those serving us in the military.
God bless all of you! Cindy sends her love … with mine.”
When Sirius XM initially announced the Bill Mack show Scott Greenstein said, “”BILL MACK is a Country music radio icon and will fit in perfectly with his good friend WILLIE NELSON on SIRIUS XM’s WILLIE’S PLACE channel.”
The loss of Mack is certainly a blow to the country music side of Sirius XM’s programming, but the company is moving forward with content that is unparalleled. I would imagine that Mack will wind up doing a podcast or hooking onto a terrestrial radio station in the near future.
Sorry to hear about trukin bozo’ z passing! But please, please, please do not replace him with that old has bin Bill Mack!!! Also get rid of Meriden and Chris that show just sucks there are no words to explain just how bad it is.
It would be the best thing to ever happen to have Bil and Cindy to get back on the Radio.
Please work out something with Bill Mack…bring he and Cindy back!!!
We will sure miss Bozo!
Agree, get rid of Meriden and Chris…Yuk!
need to put Bill and Cindy in Bozos spot.I also agree that Chris and the loud mouth need to go. that show sucks.I would rather have 5 hrs of Kevin rutherford than to listen to the morons that call im to that stupid show from 1 to 5 am.

So when did the Trukin Bozo pass away?
We so miss the afternoons with you and Cindy. Plus Sunday mornings are not the same. There were a few mornings we missed Church while listening to you. We live just outside of Columbus GA. We are 6 miles from Mountain Hill school where Chet Atkins performed as a boy
It would sure be nice to have Bill & Cindy back. By far it was the best on XM. XM is not the same without them.
Sirus xm really screwed up by letting Bill Mack and Cindy go. But as Ray Price said it was the big money in New York that know nothing about country music that make these stupid decisions that for the birds. They could care less about the listening Public.
Bill Mack on Willie’s Roadhouse was my number1 reason for keeping Sirius XM! I no longer subscribe to it. I liked Willie’s Roadhouse and my favorite was the Bill Mack portion.
Certainly miss hearing Bill and Cindy and Bill’s chats with and updates on all the country stars.
Bill and Cindy take care and God Bless you both on any new endeavors.
My husband and I miss Bill Mack’s satellite radio show tremendously. We seldom listen to Willie’s Roadhouse now, because Bill isn’t there live every day for us as he was. Please do whatever you have to do to bring him back.
I sure would like to know the name of the song Bill Mack signed on and off with.
Orange Blossom Special is what I remember hearing on WBAP. I think he used the same tune on XM.
I am so thankful he is not on Willie’s roadhouse We were sick of hearing what he had for lunch who he had it with and all his nonsense and all about his sweet cindy..Please do not mess up Willies road house with them again We do not pay satellite prices to hear his nonsence. We were ready to cancell our xm because we could not stand his show…I LOVE WILLIE NELSON and LOVE ROADHOUSE .Thank God they did not come back on ..
My husband & I would always listen to Bill Mack on Sirus XM Willie’s Roadhouse. He was so interesting & had such a good voice. What we really miss though is his Sunday morning show when he’d play that good old gospel music. We’d stay home from church to listen to him & that good music. Please bring him and “Sweet Cindy” back where they belong.
Willie’s Roadhouse is not the same without Bill Mack & Sweet Cindy. When Bill Mack was there he has such a good voice to do the show. Also the Bill Mack Country Social on Sunday mornings were awesome. Just good old gospel music that everyone enjoyed. Bring Bill Mack & Sweet Cindy back to where they belong.
XM lineup gets worse all the time, Bill and Cindy are two that definitely need to return to the airwaves on XM , if things don’t improve soon, I will be canceling my subscriptions I know !
didn’t they announce a while ago that he was coming back just on Wednesdays? What ever happened to that? I just don’t care for the people who are on there now, bring back Bill and Cindy!
BRING BACK BILL and CINDY, PLEASE
Willie’s roadhouse channel is NOT the same anymore. I am considering stopping my satellite service since one of the reasons I kept it was Bill Mack and Cindy show. They gave a unique charm to radio that no one can come close to. Why not give the listeners the people that they WANT TO HEAR????? Shame on you Willie for letting him go!!!!!
no bil and cindy no xm for me
I agree, I do not have XM Like you said. No Bill, No xm for Me.
Luther Wayne, I love you Bill!
I miss Bill and Cindy very much. I liked him talking to all current stars and keeping up with their personal lives. Please bring that portion of roadhouse back with Bill & Cindy. thanks
I am also considering cancelling my 3 subscriptions with xm radio. Since Sirius got involved the whole radio is terrible. I really miss the bill Mack show and would like to see bill, Cindy and Truman back on the air.I listened to that show every day or night. I actually had Billmack show withdrawals lol. I cannot believe the junk on this radio now. willies roadhouse is soooo boring I never turn it on. they play the same songs over and over. they should know people are not satisfied with the programming.Satellite radi could be a wonderful thing as one travels but the shows are so awful we rarely turn it on. Actually some shows are pure disgusting. I wold say fire the programmer.I am sure u would not have so many people cancelling.
Sad-Sad day when xm stopped the bill Mack show. I have listened to Bill since the 60’s. I sure thought XM would have brought him back by now! I have continued my subscription hoping for his return, but my subscription runs out on July 10th, so will I!
Bill and cindy I have been driving for 46 yrs wpn a couple rodio s truck rodios and I have laughed with you cryed and prayed with you. My dad drove truck since ww2we allways listened to your show night or day I lost dad two yrs ago then lost your show what a bummer love you man.
Still miss you and Cindy. Hardly ever turn my Sirus radio on anymore with you two gone. I am thinking of disconnecting it all together. Hopefully you will be on something we can hear you on in Lawton, Ok. Yes Oklahoma.
I have listened to Bill and his show since I was on a John Deere tractor on wbap till his last show on xm. Always kept me awake in the cotton patch to the big road he has been a big influence on my life as well as kept me company through some rough hours of my life. I still miss him and Sweet Cindy. As well as the other characters. You have always been my buddy even though we never met sirrius xm scrwed the pooch far AsI’m concerned. Love yall
you got that right terry. I like his ,but never really heard what happened to bill. just reading about ray price and his named was mentioned so I googled it.
I got off the road 5 years ago when my 28 year old son passed away. I’m 63 and thinking about how I would like to get back into OTR. With Bill Mack gone, I don’t think I could stay awake. Was thinking about getting XM at my Business as I miss Trucking Bozo, and Bill Mack. I’ve not seen if Bozo is still on the air yet. (should of checked before I wrote this) but if they are not, I will not subscribe to satellite. My question is WHY IS Opie and Anthony as well as Howard Stern still on the air? They are disgusting!
The same reason anyone else is on the air, people like them!
When Bill was on XM that was a great way to spend an afternoon. Driving truck and listening to him. Then the big merge happened and we lost Cindy and some lady drivers. The talk got less because Sirus required more music time and less talk. We will have to find him a 100,000 watt radio station so we can get him without sirus and get back to 4 hours of talk with drivers, Cindy, and of course Bill. Wishful thinking. take care.
Please bring back Bill & Cindy Mack!
I met Bill Mack in person when I was little kid here in Irving,Texas back in the 1970s, and he was the nicest guy and I’m glad as of today still call him my friend!
I met Bill Mack when he was Still a DJ at WBAP 820 AM here in the Dallas/Fort Worth,Texas Metroplex.
He gave me an album when the turntable record players were still around before they were extinct, and I would play tucking album all day long.
Without both Bill & Cindy Mack, it isn’t radio anymore!
I’m begging with all of my heart here, please bring them back XM Sirius Radio!!!! *pout*
Have long wondered what happened to The bill Mack program on Sirius-XM. Ifollowed him on Radio since 1960’s. While in the service I once got on aroof top to pick up wbap’s signal. The man is a legend! Since the merger of Sirius-XM you have dropped many of my favorite programs!!! Bill Anderson’s Interview’s with country greats, Book radio to name two !!
Don’t older people who like clean intertainment matter anymore? Called you back when Bill left the Air and E-Mailed and got the runaround With no explanation! Please bring back quality programing, Satelite radio is a great venue!
I don’t know why they ever moved Bill Mack from the trucking channel. That’s where he belongs, not on the Roadhouse. He fit in just fine with Dave Nemo and Bozo (of course Bozo is gone now). Sometimes truckers get so tired of the same old songs that it is kinda refreshing to hear what Bill had for lunch. The trucking channel is so bad now I never listen to it at all. It was one of my favorites.
I recently signed back up with XM because of the special rates they had. I have a portable device that I can carry from my POV to my business and play on the boom box. I only listen to Willie’s place. Problem is it seems to be the same songs over and over again. They are Super Great songs, but everyday is a re-run. Today I see another comment on Bill Mack and the Bozo’s name was listed saying he is not with us anymore!
What happen to the BOZO? Did he pass? I hope not! The three best trucking ICONS NEMO, BOZO, and Bill Mack always had something new to say and a great variety of music. Those three made XM worth listening to.
I’m afraid when the 6 month special is over I will cancel my subscription again as I have done for the past 5 years. Don’t get me wrong Willis Place is great, Music you can understand and had value. But the same songs over and over again is tiresome. I’ve listen to the others, (56-59) just not as entertaining and informative!
Bring them back, and I’ll pay full price!
Bill — you may not remember Bettie and me from San Antonio back in ’62 at Castle Hills. I am your lifetime buddy John Max Cox’s brother-in-law. Wish we could see you and rehash some of the good times. Listened to you for years on WBAP then on 171 XM, until Sirius messed XM up.
If you come through Salado, “my man, my man”, a please give us Jimmie Rogers yodel (Ha!).
I spent 40 years in radio, working at stations in 3 states. I enjoy “live” radio with a host that can intelligently inform us of what is current in the business. The Bill Mack show was entertaining, informative, and I looked forward to it everyday. Willie’s Roadhouse is the same canned music everyday! Boring and a total waste of my money.I know this message will never be seen by those that can change the programming, but at least I have expressed my views.
Jeff Rogers, I feel the same way as you do on all that you said. I quit trucking 7 years ago. Was so disappointed when I took the $30 Deal and found that all the Good Trucking Icons were gone. Bill, Bozo, and Nemo. The other so called trucking show is TRASH in my opinion, So I too just listen to Willies Place 98% of my time in my business. Yes it is reruns all the time, but really good music.
I just miss hearing Bill Mack! So I don’t Have Xm.
Bill. I listened to you in the early 50’s on Saturday afternoons never missing your broadcast. We lived in Oklahoma City when you moved to KLPR and never missed you then. You are the greatest.
