Ed Gillespie It was announced last week that Sirius and XM had hired the bi-partisan lobbying firm of Quinn Gillespie & Associates to act on their behalf regarding the proposed merger. It now appears that one of the firm’s principals, Ed Gillespie will be tapped to become part of the White House team in Washington. Gillespie has been attached to reports that he will replace outgoing White House Councilor Dan Bartlett.

For those that follow these equities, and are supporters of the merger, this could be welcomed news. Having a merger supporter in the White House can not hurt the cause. Gillespie is well respected and connected both politically and in the business community. His major tasks will likely center around opening lines of communication between the White House and policy makers in Washington and beyond.
