cea.JPGThe Consumer Electronics Association has filed a letter with the FCC urging approval of the merger between Sirius and XM. Expressing that consumers are awaiting a merger decision prior to purchasing radio units, the association is asking that the FCC quickly approve the merger.

The Consumer Electronics Association unites over 2,200 companies and is active in advancing information, connections, and exposure of the companies that are members. The organizations members will have seen a substantial weakness in retail. In point of fact, a retail weakness began prior to the merger announcement, but there is little doubt that consumer confusion does have some impact on retail sales. The only way for a potential retail recovery is clarity on the merger, and some new products being introduced into the channel.
