The Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has penned a letter against the proposed merger of Sirius and XM according to his office. Van Hollen was quoted as saying, “The proposed merger would eliminate competition in the satellite radio industry and the combined XM-Sirius companies would be free to raise prices, stifle innovation and reduce program diversity,”
Von Hollens comments were forwarded to Assistant Attorney General Thomas Barnett on Tuesday, September 18th, in which he also offered up his assistance in the matter.
Gee, wasn’t the comment period over some time ago? Then, we get this clown from Wisconsin that makes up maybe 1-2% of the total population in the county preaching to stop the merger? What is going on with the politicians in this country? I do believe they are all crooks and liars and will do anything for a vote.
Isn’t interesting that Herb Kohl, who has an interest in public radio because of his ownership of the basketball team, is also from Wisconsin and opposed the merger. Something smells fishy and its not my upper lip.
They already said they were not gonna increase the cost. Or did you miss that? Your either a short or your working for the NAB. You should tell the investors the truth and give it up. The merger will go as planned. Your just one Attorney vs many Sirius and XM Attorneys . And another thing you don`t have a case worth taking to court in the first place. Go back and relearn Law. 13:15 pm 9/19/2007
I think that Mr. Van Hollen does not get out much. How could he say that it would eliminate competition. Apparently, he has never heard of the IPOD, Internet Radio, Napster and of course terrestrial radio. To name a few.
Please do your best to keep comments interesting, to the point, and topical. Abusive, inappropriate, and blatantly self promotional posts may be edited or removed. If you have a question or an off topic comment, that is what the forums are for!

The FCC comment period is officially over. This letter went to the department of Justice.
Yes, it would seem to be late in the game though.
