You gotta be kidding the guest is Brent from Bubba the love sponge? Holy CHIT, dont you guys think we should be talking the Pink Elephant in the Room. This sucks big time.
I just turned in to the Sirius Buzz which I have listen to before and enjoyed.
I thought you would be taking about the reverse stock split, and the issue of more shares at Mel’s wim.
Instead, you are talking to someone from Bubba the love sponge show.
respectfully,
I don’t care about Bubba,Howard,Oprah,Etc, they got their money. We paid them as stockholders.
What about the stockholders return???
vaporgold
I am sorry to ask this
Is Bubba the love sponge the LIVE version of sponge bob????
Will he be able to explain what is going on with these new events?
Why filing the proxy now and not after Q3 results?
One more clever act of MEL to screw the shareholders
The toilet flushing was great! whoever did that you are a genius. Tyler said “310 your live with Brent from Bubba the love sponge” and gguuggguuuuugggg the toilet flushed.
I mean Brandon or Tyler should have interupted Barack Obama to discuss the Proxy crap. NO?
Tyler,
With all due respect, I know you’re trying to put a positive spin on things when you say there is a silver lining but let’s get real, this potentially devastates this stock. I’ve seen it before many, many times and the odds are slim to none. Let’s just tell it how it is.
Not everyone who comes here is looking for stock advice. Some of us are actually fans of Sirius. Brent is “one of the top guys in the industry” and it was amazing for SiriusBuzz to get a guest like that.
Don’t hate because you have lost 80% of your money in SIRI. This isn’t thestreet.com this is SiriusBuzz.
People like Brent and Bubba are the reason Sirius even exists. Where do you think your stock price would be without the exclusive content or the people like Bubba and his guys that are out there pounding the street and doing shows all over the country spreading the word about this service?
I totally agree and that was awesome of Brent to take time out of his day to do something like that.
I want Ned for next weeks show.
Ah man, talking about reverse splits and more share dilution. This is an awful nightmare that just keeps getting worse, I am losing all faith in this company.
BAFAN GFY!
Charles. Where would the stock price be with these guys pounding the pavement? How about .39 cents. Your a genius.
While I am unhappy with this report, I feel this will give Mel options other than bankruptcy if the financing doesn’t get done which will wipe all of the common stock holders out anyway. I don’t like dilution or reverse splits but I’d hate a Bankruptcy filing. I have been considering buying more shares but I certainly won’t after hearing this news. This sucks!!
Kent. We all have to be smart investors with remaining funds and look to others symbols. Take Care.
I’m with you guys. I was looking at purchasing more shares. No longer.
@socal
Exactly, without the likes of their exclusive content/jocks there would be no Sirius, it would have failed long ago.
These guys work day and night in an effort to increase the bottom line and what thanks do they get? These guys are working to the point where they are sleeping at their studio between shows and flying around the country on their days off to spread the word. Like them or not they have been and can make a difference.
Charles. Peace be with you.
and also with you
Just a few “quick” thoughts:
1. I’m with those above that question putting Bubba on as a special guest when we are focused on the SP meltdown and impending proxy vote. And now we learn that a similar company, albeit with a different set of circumstances, WorldSpace, has filed for BK effective 10/16/08. Putting a content side love rag on Buzz radio while longs suffer is like the government throwing hundreds of billions of $$$ to Wall Street while we on Main Street struggle with rising food cost, a shocking rise in home heating costs for this coming winter, double digit increases in college education costs, and all the other cost increases that in aggregate separate Main Street from Wall Street.
2. Regarding all the brave words about banding together to do something about Mel’s direction, as published in the proxy doc, okay, sure, let’s plan, organize, lead, and control (a.k.a., “manage”) our way through this deteriorating situation. But keep this in mind: weighting. How many posters on this board have hundreds to thousands to tens of thousands of SIRI shares? How much weight will our votes count versus SIRI heavies that have hundreds of thousands to millions to perhaps orders of magnitude more shares that also will be voting? The weight of heavies’ votes will crush us low-level retail types at the shareholders meeting in December. (Brandon, Tyler, a little investigative journalism could uncover the general consensus, if there is one, among the heavies. Knowing what the heavies intend will tell us which way to expect the voting to go.)
3. Over on the Seeking Alpha board, where I am “FNG,” I weighed in on a thread that took me an hour to read. The thread is under Tyler’s article titled “Is a reverse split in the cards for Sirius?” Anyone on this board concerned about the company management’s direction, as covered in the proxy doc, should read the SA thread under Tyler’s article. I am not endorsing SA as a board but I regularly check it, and SatWaves and other boards and websites to try and stay informed about SIRI. I use an old journalism (and intelligence) technique called content analysis to determine the big picture. Check many sources then piece together a total or holistic view, direction, situation, threat, opportunity, etc. In no way should a loyal SIRI long rely on a single board for decision support–and forget the pure and worthless and untimely PR crap published to the Sirius XM website. “Doing your homework” on this stock is a nightmare because predicting it cannot be done using either fundamentals or technical analysis. Over time I’ve tried. I may be dead wrong, but with regard to SIRI I have come down to only staying tuned in and doing content analysis–and even this did not alert me to the timing of the language contained in the proxy doc. By the way, on the proxy doc and dilution and reverse split, I am crystal clear on why such contengencies may be necessary going forward. The intent and need do not bother me. What does, though, is deception.
4. To those that diss Brandon, Tyler, and others that try to keep us informed, grow up. It is true that Brandon and Tyler both need to get a copy of the AP Stylebook and use it to improve the quality of their articles on this board and SA, but none of us posting here and elsewhere should expect awards for writing, grammar, or punctuation. Communication is what matters–sending and receiving and understanding information. I commend Brandon and Tyler for the time and effort they spend to keep us informed. I cannot find such reporting elsewhere, not on CNBC, MSN, Google Finance, Yahoo Finance, etc. So lighten up on the people who help keep us closest to the company management decision-making process.
5. friggenR, relmor, cos1K, egiscodr, SL62, newman, and a number of other regulars on this board also deserve some recognition for keeping the dialog going and for their situational or trading experience-based insights. I often chime in after a lot of posts get made to threads because I like to read what others have to say before offering an opinion. “Listening” by reading ALL others’ posts is a highly undervalued communication skill. I think that we all need to–as my old drill sergeant used to scream–“LISTEN LOUDER!” meaning pay attention to requirements. I do not listen to Bubba or other content side talent for meaningful input to discussion about the SP or company or direction. Sorry, Tyler, I agree with others that getting entertained while the house is burning down is not what is needed. I would listen to any of the analysts that have regularly followed and given opinions on SIRI and the company. I would listen to others that are (arguably) qualified to inform us on the current and anticipated situation. I did not appreciate learning that BTLS was the special guest.
6. All above is IMHO.
