Actually, I don't watch ANY football....cept for the local H.S. team and even then I only show up to watch my boy play in the marching band. I leave after half-time.

I do enjoy watching the boys put forth a good effort but frankly by half-time I've had my fill of football for the week.

Even more amazing! HAHA... I love to watch the Texas High School football games when I can. They are a lot of fun. Love the big plays and high scoring action.

I have very little interest in sports when I am busy trading and flipping. Although I hate the POS company with a passion, I bought my first 5k shares of P this morning and flipped it for a $5k profit. Didnt expect nearly that much of a gain, but I'm not complaining. I don't have the same confidence in Siri right now, however. I'm still trying to gather information that will support where I think it will be when the quarterly numbers roll out. Right now I'm not feeling too positive past maybe touching into the low or mid $3.90's again and then the usual pull back. What irks me is the continued share repurchase.program. Frankly, I don't see the sp heading past $4 until it is finished. This has been the history of this choked stock and I don't see it breaking out any time soon. And of course there's the assumed bear market that we have entered. And there's China... And just about every other country that is not us. Like I mentioned a couple of months ago, I think it is best to invest in profitable companies that have minimal or no international exposure. (I.e. Sirius) To me, that is where you will ultimately discover the lowest risk.

Disclaimer: All the above is simply my opinion

I think a lot of us feel your frustration bdp which is why the forum is looking for other topics to keep us busy during the trading day. The only thing I can think of why they continue the repurchase program (besides the obvious financial reasons) is to gain more ownership in Sirius XM. Anyway, if you do have "other trades or investments" feel free to post them even we are off topic. Maybe we can find something else to help pass the time while making money.

Awesome trade in P today bdp! Keep it up. I have to admit that I've never looked to closely at P but you've piqued my interest and I'll have to start paying attention there. Again, nice trade!

We also have photography here now to bdp....not just football.

Seriously tho...We are at a pivot pt here....either we bounce out of this area higher and if not maybe the greedy bastards take it to 3.50's.

Nothing wrong with putting some of your money to work elsewhere bdp....nice going on the P trade.

FYI, the SIRI Jan16 $3.50 Puts are selling for about $.12 right now. Meaning, you could pick up the stock for a net cost of $3.38 if the stock gets Put to you, which would only happen when/if the stock trades below $3.50 between now and the Jan16 Op-ex...or if the stock closes below $3.50 on Op-ex.. If not. you get to keep the $.12/share. Also the Jan $4 puts are selling for about $.35, meaning you could pick up the stock at $3.65 net the premium if the stock is below $4 between now and op-ex. So.....if you are one of those that truly believe that the SIRI is a $4+ stock and it's only a matter of time before common sense prevails an SIRI gets it due respect and a $4+ sp, then this is a great opportunity to get paid to wait for that to occur.
    Me.....I'm not so sure.....just sayin'

Edit #1: And the Jan16 $3 Put is at $.02/$.09 on the bid/ask...a wide spread to be sure but at the current stock price you might be able to sell those for maybe $.04-$.05 to someone who is looking to protect against any sub $3 downside. If the SIRI is a $4+ stock that's like free money, no?

Ok...let me dumb this down then for the football crowd. Ya see.....Puts and Calls are like point spreads. When you sell puts, it's like getting points! When you sell Calls it's like giving points - Both are bullish positions on the stock relative to the odds makers (the "street" in his example) in that you think your stock (your team) will beat the spread.

With the Puts, your max gain is the premium you receive for establishing the position, while your max loss is pretty much everything between the strike price minus the premium you received and $0.

With the Calls your max gain is basically everything above the strike price plus the premium you paid, while your max loss is the premium paid.

Hey User, your analogy of Puts/Calls similar to the point spread, I think that was "Genius", but (full disclosure), after 20 years or more trying to figure out how to trade options, and still not confident to do so, I guess you might guess why I took up Photography.

Speaking of which, since the cloud cover rendered my full-eclipse images with less than desirable exposure, I found one shot in the partial eclipse phase which I thought worthy of sharing. This image was shot within the first 3 minutes of the partial eclipse. There are multiple shots at measured intervals up to the full eclipse. One day when I learn how to merge those in a Photoshop composition, I'll be happy to share with you. PS. In case you don't know, you can click on the image to Zoom in.
