It's just another platform where companies can develop and install their apps for the consumer to use. Sirius XM kind of reminds me of cable television where you are at the mercy of the provider. They decide what channel the song or show will be played on and at what time. I don't think the younger generation likes or wants it like that. They want to be able to say "I want to watch Season X Episode Y or Band Afroman Song "Before I Got High" and it plays or streams it. No need to record or store anything because every and all content will be on demand on any device, any time. Don't get mad... just think about it with me.
That's where SXM17 comes into play. On Demand content and Customized music in the car in addition to what is offered on Sirius now in the car. Similar to what Cable is doing with their On Demand offering. Comcast offers the top 100 rated TV shows on demand to their subscribers.

If it works the way you say it does, it's a great step in the right direction for sure. I would love to be able to just call out the artist or song On-Demand. That's the way to do it for sure. What I like is the SXM17 will need a LTE connection or phone (connected to the internet). That's where the wireless carriers come into play or MVNO baby!

On Demand content and customized music from Sirius are both already available on the net and obviously smartphones. And have been available for quite some time. What you are talking about calling out an artist or song is what Spotify or Rhapsody does. That is not radio. That is a music library that is basically a replacement for iTunes or CDs. Not radio. Totally different business with very low margins. Something I hope Sirius never gets into.

I think SXM17 may evolve one day into just that. If Sirius can get Sat and internet radio working together in cars in the US in 2017, tell me why they can't extend the internet portion in cars overseas? Tell me their superlative audio content wouldn't play well in Europe.........
How Can NFLX be Trading at Such a Lofty Multiple?....good question, and frankly I think it's priced for perfection but then...it's been priced that way for the last 4 or so years. Here's a link that, while it may not answer the whole question, you may find interesting anyhow.

You were the one I was talking about when I said bloggers talking about the great Pandora years ago and you have seen now how these streamers don't make money.........Did the market wake up to the non money making ways of music streamers??? Of course they did. All the while you posted something along the lines that those Seeking Alpha bloggers like Rocco Pendola or Rico Petrocelli or whatever his name is was correct. Until Pandora's stock fell flat on its face right back to IPO price because it makes no money.

Did terrestrial radio compete for music listening in the car with CD's tape decks or 8tracks??? Of course it did. Did that stop terrestrial radio from grabbing over 90% of America listening to it in cars? Of course not. It still happens. I don't care what you call it - Music streaming, iTunes, CDS or Tapes or vinyl are all complementary to radio. AND SIRIUS IS RADIO! There is a reason Sirius has higher conversion rates in connected cars than non connected cars. 2/3 of its listeners are streamers!

Again I will tell you as I told you years ago and as Mel always stated BUSINESS MODELS MATTER. Netflix stock can go to 1000 times earnings and can have 1 billion eyeballs. Stocks will eventually reflect EPS EBITDA and FCF NOT EYEBALLS. Pandora found this out. People who invested in the dot com bubble in the late 90s found thisout. Netflix will have to make money to succeed. There is a flood of competition coming to streaming video. A flood. No barrier to entry. Just like music radio Just like blogs. See ya!

User/midas even with all those options and distractions that you listed Sirius continues to gain traction and is closing in on 30 million subs.

Its all about ease of use and content...again, those distractions/options u mention don't compare to siri...Enuff said!

Ummmm I not really sure where you are coming from but as far as I can tell, CD's, tape decks or 8 tracks never stopped terrestrial radio from "grabbing" over 90 percent of America listening in cars (and by the way, thanks to sat-rad and internet streaming it's now more like 80% of "listening hours" in the automobile here's the link: http://qz.com/195349/the-remarkable-...dio-in-the-us/). Rather, CD's Tape Decks, 8 tracks caused terrestrial radio to go from 100 percent of American listening audience in cars to...well...something a lot less than that. It's a nuance in perspective, I know, but an important one don'tcha think?

That's not radio but that's what the younger generation likes. That's how they use TV now, right?

They are getting into it with SM17 with OnDemand content, no?

HAHAHA... we go way back. I've been around longer than most of these people. I've had the same ID since day 1. They've been caught here and other places using multiple ID's. Hey Spencer... who was Crunching.Numbers again? I know who he was over at Seeking Alpha because he was caught.
