Sat Radio has huge content cost and coverage advantages over wireless internet. Wireless has tremendous 2 way communication advantages of on demand and customized music. That's why Sirius will do both. Users don't care where its coming from as long as the content is great.

I can agree with that but I still think eventually Sirius XM will lose the physical satellites and go strictly internet. You are right that users don't care "where" it's coming from but you can bet the internet providers do. Plus the "experience" would be so much better if it were internet based. Can you imagine the capabilities?

Understood Muscle....Thought you were referring to the cable content. That makes a lot more sense. I'll have to read more carefully.

I've never liked the Sat TV delivery model. Snow or other weather can easily affect reception. But to my point earlier, I get a lot of my content directly from my phone and cast it. I can't help but wonder if that will have an effect on the Comcast/Charter/Time Warner broadband cable co's?

Over the weekend a utility crew putting in a gas line across the street dug up and broke the cable line. I was watching the Bridgestone Invitational when it went out and I just switched to the app on my phone and kept on watching.

For the record, I don't like satellite tv either but AT&T isn't buying DirecTV for that. They are buying connected devices to put on their network. I am sure they will be converting them to mobile customers, home security customers, broadband customers, and eventually U-Verse video customers. It's just matter of time. It's much easier to buy the market than to start new like Google. A lot less government red tape.

I totally disagree again. Right now you push a button in a car and get coast to coast clear coverage of Sat radio. No phones, no buffering, no non coverage areas. The difference internet brings is on demand radio.

Uhhh... yeah... not really. The last time I drove thru Oklahoma with SatRad... well lets just say we had some issues.

Plus, i am talking about more interactive and custom features.

Edit: When I ent into Ft Knox while listening to my SatRad... no signal. Oh and no cell phone signal either. Go figure ?

A large majority of the video content on phones is streamed using a Wi-Fi connection. Cable Wi-fi.

When you move to the connected car, it will be using a cellular network. You know from AT&T and Verizon? HAHAHA

At the risk of being ripped to shreds again, I was wondering about the broadband. Wouldn't Sirius lose broadband if they didn't have satellites? Would they then have to buy it from someone like At&t, etc.?
