Bush / Cheney are history regardless of whatever positive or negative they brought. If you want someone to defend them, address John. I'm not. My position is documented. I want to talk about today, and what we need to do to secure the future. But thanks for the talking points.

I like talking about today and the future too.I think we do that a bunch. But i seriously believe that when you want to talk about Obama you have to understand what came before. You cant have a discussion without a clear understanding of those facts. And i am sorry but i often feel that you dont have a very detailed understanding of what went before, which i believe leads you to make some assumptions that are incorrect. I dont think its a talking point to describe the facts of the Bush/Cheney administration, but I would agree that sometimes its just too easy for both sides to fall back on talking points


P.S. But in all seriousness can you actually name a single piece of legislation and the length of its
pages before Obama? If you cant then you should understand that you have fallen prey to a silly
talking point.

My take? I was going to refi a while back, but the rate I locked in at tanked so I was out $300. May try it again. But man o man did we get grilled, and we're pretty solid with a very nice credit score. I tend to believe that if you get a mortgage in today's environment, you've probably earned it.

The Bush tax cuts (for the rich) expire 12/31/10 - so taxes will be increasing. It'll be interesting to see if Obama extends them or let's them expire. I'm betting he lets them expire so that the wealth can be distributed. Here's some reading material on the subject.

My bet is that Obama will allow those tax cuts to be renewed. He seems to be a Republican in Democrat clothing lately.
He supported off shore drilling, and in fact expanded it to the East Coast just before the Gulf Oil Spill.
He seems to still support both unfunded wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We still have don't ask, don't tell, don't be yourself.
I haven't seen one tax increase from him and yet he keeps up the spending just like Republicans did.

I just don't see much of a difference so I expect him to keep the tax cuts in place as long as it is politically correct.

Though after driving my niece and nephew around the UM campus, I'm wondering if I can raise my own kids AND get them through college. It's like you just can't save enough.

I helped my five kids all get degrees. I let them know very early in life that they were going to college and that I wasn't paying for it.
They all worked and saved through middle and high school. They all got some form of scholarships. One of them got one for having red hair of all things. There is money out there, if the kids want to go, they'll find it. All five kids worked almost full time through college. And they all graduated with a healthy dose of debt.

Chuck was good for beer and pizza money and that was it. I payed for the party to the tune of a couple of thousand a year. And the really amazing point of all of this is that because THEY paid the way for themselves. They are all doing what they studied in college. 3 teachers, 1 musician, and 1 TV producer.

This all happened during the late 90's to 2006.

Don't sweat the details. Make the kids desire that education and they'll go out there and get it! Good luck man!
