SL, this has been a painfully long and slow climb this time since the quarterly report. I would be very happy with a half penny rise today and everyday hereafter!
Well, I wasn't right, but it did close above the intraday low. As you note, it will be a "painfully long and slow climb".

You know, half of me says go for the reverse split. Take shares off the market. Or, if Mel is true to his words of being dissapointed about not returning value to the stockholder, maybe he can manage a buyback.

I'm not impatient. SIRI is a glimmer of hope as opposed to some of the shit I got caught up in (i.e. SPNG, SINX). Though I have made a bundle on the ascent of TCK. Next time TCK goes down a buck, buy it. It goes right back up.

Mel on Charlie Rose for 1 Hour Tonight

AND YES SIRIUS BUZZERS . . THERE WILL BE A QUIZ!

get your little note pads out . . notice how Mel doesn't say "sucks" anymore

I picture Mel in a big chair getting his make-up before he goes on air . . all his minions around him . . prepping him . .

"Now remember Mel, don't use the word "sucks" and we are NOT giving guidance except as to EBITDA . . no guidance Mel. And for God's sake don't talk about using your own money to pay debt. Remember Mel, free-cash-flow . . focus on free-cash-flow . . don't get caught-up with revenue growth. And give'm the ole 10 $1 bills is the same as 1 $10 bill . . they really eat that one up. And whatever you do, don't call these pain-in-the-ass retail shareholders unsophisticated"

Down 97 cents today so far!!! They got fined for dumping lead into a river. I don't think that's why they're down though. I think it's profit taking. The market will ride it back up, then sell to take profit. I'd have to sell something to buy more. I've had a good run on a commodity ETF that I don't want to give up on. My other holdings are considered "core", but I may have to adjust, or sell some crap I've held on to for far too long (and at a loss).

SIRI hasn't had a good day so far - down a penny and half for what seems to be no real good reason (ok supply > demand is a good reason I suppose).

The Fixer: In the end, Sirius shines true blue
    Comments

    December 3, 2009

    BY STEPHANIE ZIMMERMANN The Fixer
Dear Fixer: I am at my wit's end with Sirius satellite radio and I need some assistance.

Last January, I wrote a check for $144.45 to pay in full for a one-year subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio for my husband's birthday present -- you know, the kind of gift that you get 365 days a year. Well, it sure didn't help me to pay ahead, because in July my husband traded in the vehicle that the Sirius radio was in. The new vehicle has an XM radio system. Even though Sirius and XM merged, I was told the subscription could not be transferred to the new vehicle.

    RELATED STORIES
    • No credit to Citibank for raising rates
On Aug. 3, I spoke with a rep who told me I would receive a refund of $60.49 for the unused portion of the subscription in seven to 14 days.

By Sept. 4, I still hadn't gotten the refund, so I spoke with another rep, who said it takes three to four weeks to get a refund but my request was in their system.

On Sept. 14, I spoke with another rep, who said the refund was in the system and it should be at my house in about a week. It never came. I ended up talking with a supervisor, who assured me my refund would arrive by Oct. 3.

By Oct. 8, I still didn't have my refund. I called and spoke with another employee. She informed me that yes, my request was in the system, though she wasn't sure when the refund would arrive.

She said if I would give her my charge card number maybe the refund would come sooner. I refused to give my card number and asked why she would need it. I was worried that they would be charging my card instead of refunding my money. She didn't give me an answer that made sense to me.

There is no refund in sight. XM wants us to sign up for their radio program.

What is a girl supposed to do? My husband enjoys the radio and the great selection of stations, but I am not sure.

    Judith Filas, Wildwood

Dear Judith: The Fixer can see how this would be Siriusly frustrating, especially considering that you told us you were planning to use the refund to buy another subscription for your satellite radio-loving hubby.

This seemed to be one of those inexplicable "black hole" problems, where the simplest issue falls into some sort of space-time vortex and can't get out.

We had a little better luck. After we told your story to Sal Resendez, spokesman for Sirius XM Radio, they got right on it. A helpful rep immediately called you to say a check was being cut and should arrive by the end of next week.

Meanwhile, they extended the trial period on the new vehicle so your husband will have free service until January. By then, you'll have your money and can start a new subscription.

Dear Arleen: The Fixer agrees -- the new law that's supposed to protect consumers from usurious rate hikes would have been a lot more helpful if it didn't have such a long lag time before taking effect. It doesn't kick in until February, giving the credit card companies ample time to hit everyone with higher rates now, just in time for the holidays.

A few weeks ago, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. took to the Senate floor to ask his colleagues to vote on an immediate freeze of credit card interest rates, fees and finance charges on existing balances. Unfortunately for folks like you, Dodd's request for a vote was blocked by the opposition, so we're back in the same boat.
