    Anybody remember this one?

Ambac Financial Swings To Big Loss

Bond insurer Ambac Financial Group Inc. (ABK) swung to a second-quarter loss on increased write-downs while net premiums earned sank. The loss was much wider than the company's projection last week.

Chief Executive David Wallis said the results were "obviously very disappointing, as continued poor performance of the mortgage-related portfolios and rising forward interest rates have escalated projections of future claims." Wallis had said in May the credit environment remained adverse although "perhaps the rate of degradation is slowing."

The nation's second-largest bond insurer behind MBIA Inc. (MBI) posted a loss of $2.4 billion, or $8.33 a share, compared with year-earlier income of $823.1 million, or $2.80 a share. Ambac said last week it expected to post a $1.3 billion loss due to higher write-downs on credit derivatives.

I almost bought some of this in March

Chinese Solar Firms Likely To Post Losses

Analysts expect Chinese-based solar companies JA Solar Holdings Co. (JASO), LDK Solar Co. (LDK) and ReneSola Ltd. (SOL) to swing to quarterly losses Wednesday, with LDK already saying it would write down inventory as the industry continues to be plagued by lower prices for solar wafers. While China's new subsidy for solar power plants is expected to help the industry, it won't alleviate the problem of excess capacity.

This is a great blog. I suggest subscribing to it. This guy is dead nuts on. I actually cut half of it out of here, but it is a look at what you get from him daily. That is my motivation for putting it in here other than QASP is included in here:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9370 on 8/7/09, as the stock market jumped after a better then expected jobs report. 247,000 jobs were lost in the month on July while the unemployment rate was 9.4%. The Dow Jones Futures exploded on this news and the stock market surged throughout the day. In the final hour, the stock market pulled back from its high but remained very strong. All eyes will be pointed to a two day Federal Reserve meeting in the middle of next week.

    Stocks to Buy August 10, 2009 8/10/09

    Posted: 07 Aug 2009 11:29 AM PDT
Friday, during regular trading hours, there were many stocks that continued to break out to the upside. Below is a list of stocks that are worth watching for August 10 , 2009. Also, check out the Biggest Stock Gainers of the Day. You can also find previous stocks to buy reports - Right Here

    Discuss Stocks - www.stockstobuy.org

Stocks to Watch - 8/10/09 - Stock Market Ideas

YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) - YRWC stock exploded higher Friday afternoon on the following news - YRC Worldwide expects union vote results Friday - Once the voting results come out, I will begin to trade this stock. Watching the 200 day moving average at $3.12.

CROCS Inc. (CROX) - CROX stock was on fire Friday after the company said they will become profitable again in 2010. I don't see any major resistance until $6.75-$7.

American Intl Group, Inc. (AIG) - AIG reported better then expected earnings on Friday morning. The stock topped out at $28 before pulling back to $24. A break up through $28 would be bullish and i'd expect Wednesday's high of $29.39 to be tested.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) - It appears LVS stock will finally close over $11.84 Friday. The next major resistance level I see is $16.81. I'd be buying any major pullbacks.

Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (HEB) - I continue to watch HEB...waiting for a break above $2.17 to jump in for a quick trade.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - CTIC continues to trade in the $1.50's after releasing earnings Thursday. On August 24th, the company is expecting a ruling from the FDA whether to accept their application for Pixantrone to treat relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Shares of CTIC could catch a bid leading up to August 24th.

Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ)
Daily Finan. Bull 3X Shs(ETF)(FAS) - FAS just keeps breaking out. FAS has now made 13 straight higher daily lows. I am now watching Friday's low of $72.43....as soon as FAS breaks through $72.43, I will jump into FAZ for a trade.

Citigroup Inc (C:NYSE) - Citigroup broke through $4 on a Jim Cramer buy call. Citigroup has had major problems closing over $4 and $4.05. If Citigroup is able to do this, I think the stock could retest the double top in the $4.40's. I will have a new chart by Monday morning.

Bank of America Corp ( BAC ) - Bank of America Corporation appears to be stalling here after an incredible run. I am still watching major resistance at $17.93. I like pullbacks to $15 and also the 50 day moving average located at $12.94. I will have a new chart on Monday.

We need oil to march higher to push the solars up. I feel we are in a range where we could either go farther north, or drop again. I mentioned to Ray that airlines have started going up. Not sure how high they will go, its a lot different this year from last.

Right now I don't know where to plug my money into. I will wait until I see something that makes sense.
No hurricane season, I wonder if we are going to have a mild or cold winter this year. Watching oil / gas, as usual.

    Have a good one Bill!!

A couple of hurricanes couldn't hurt (morbid sense of humor), because BCLE is in the clean-up department for hurricanes. Just enough damage to boost up the stock price is all that is required.

Hey, Stang.....what was that hurricane company that we were looking at about the time we were looking at Six Flags before they went the BK direction? Do you happen to remember it?

You have a great one too, my friend!

    We need more volume

Last week we saw up volume pick up, pretty much everything I was looking at had increased volume on the upside, and it was nice to see.

Now we are back in that mid summer funk, I think the big money will be on hold until they pass the health care bill, and tax and kill.

I hate this time of year, usually the end of year going into the next is good.

The only bull markets are speculation stocks, and pennies right now. No one is crazy enough to be playing these except us.

Glad I got the hell out or SRS, man what a blood bath, lawsuits and all. GS was mentioned in the lawsuit. Brings back nightmares of SIRI!!

URE on the other hand has done great, last year I was keying in on the commercial realty issue, thought it would unwind in March of this year, seems like its either priced in already, or has been retarded with smoke and mirrors. But it is happening.

FYI- Sold BEHL and that partial fill order of FRNTQ, made enough for a few pizzas, maybe get some italian beef? Or gyros!!!

I will let you know when I get back in the market, oh wait, you will know when it pulls back.

I like QASP, so I might enter in, want more news!!

About the cash for clunkers thing- I think it will end in tears, I rebuild transmissions, and they are destroying perfectly good cores, its not recycling. I recycle by turning around these cores and reselling them.
Its going to be a long 4 years. Not to mention that it is just another way to redistribute tax payers money.

Hey Bill, I hope you got that email I sent with the specs on my engine.

I have the body ready to pull off the frame on the chevelle, been drawing up a jig for the body. Hope I can get the frame powder coated and body done soon. Pushing hard cause everything is up in the air.

I am out for the night, have a good one and enjoy the makers!!!

    Jimmy the drill bit LOL!!

LMAO! You don't sleep...you are a tow truck owner. 24/7/365. You just think you sleep, lol!

I used to live in Rawlins, Wyoming and lived two doors down from a guy that towed big 18 wheelers in the winter. He had an enclosed front porch and a chair in there. He never went to bed, he just slept in the chair. It looked like a prostitute in an Amsterdam window. When you went by, there was Shorty in his coveralls sleeping in a recliner. Well, when I went through there last time everything was shut down and the building looked like shit. I think Shorty bit the bullet.

You probably have a really rigorous schedule. I respect that. I don't work Monday through Friday 8 to 5 either.
