We can start a new thread if you want - no need to sticky it, its not like the board gets filled up with other stuff. Who knows, maybe it'll attract someone that knows a hell of a lot more than me. I have plenty of questions - particularly where to go to get some greek calculators .etc, without having to start a TOS account.

    Options 003

I'm glad we started this. My trading skills increased when I traded SIRI with my friend, and he pointed out that I was likely covering more bases. Sometimes I'd trade with as few as 1-2 charts. With him I had I believe 9 to make our trade. I find if I use the same caution - things are better, ie. if he were by my side, we wouldn't have held that AMZN call over the earnings date.

I finally figured out those calculators.

We don't need to go over this more complicated stuff early on... but I found some links that we will discuss later. I have been trading without this info up until now.

If you are some hardcore math geek:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeks_(finance)

Though I'm not a fan of paper trading - at investopedia, you can set up a paper account, and you can trade options there. They make you create or join a game when you do, we could always create our own game. I have an account there already, just have to remember my user name.
Only drawback, is all trading is overnight daily trading, kind of like the chartgame, which I still like, and I'm thinking of practicing more now, but with certain candles keeping track myself with wins/losses a day ahead of time. ie. to represent buying in the morning, and selling in the afternoon based on the previous day.

Dave, thx for doing all that options education. I know it must be alot of work and time put into. So know that I recognize your efforts.

    With that in mind...
It it possible to make a new Sticky Forum for Dave's options education info? It just seems a shame to have all this great knowledge get lost next week because we started a new weekly forum. But if we create a seperate sticky just for him it would stay for much much longer.

Just an idea. Have a great weekend guys. I know I will bc I have a date set up for tomorrow day. (Hope Im not too tired)
I will make a thread for it and stick it.

    Dave's Options School Thread

I created a thread for you Dave and stickied it so we don't lose your info. I will see if I can move your posts over there.

If not, then you will have to copy and paste them.

I can't move them to the thread. I don't want to take the chance of losing them. I can only move them to a forum from what I can see and not an individual thread.

If you want to rename the thread, just let me know and I will change it to whatever you want.

Maybe some day Billy like when this gambling stock siri ever hit's I will put in an order for a replica of my baby - It's a black Randy Rhoads V, one of the first hundred made.[/QUOTE]

Hey there Los , looks like you got your hands on a great collectors item. Sounds like you guys followed the same bands I did back in the day. You ( and Bill or anyone else here interested with a favorite guitar ) need to send me some detailed pics of your V. By the time I actually get it made "SIRI" might be at 3.00 a share. Ha , well maybe not that long but I usually work on guitars in between other projects I do. I can't stay working on one thing to long or I get burned out so usually have several things going at once.I would rather make a replica for someone who would truly appreciate a replica of their favorite axe than to try to make them to sell . I have only found one other sight where someone else makes replicas and he gets $200.00 a pop for his which I believe is a bit pricey considering you can buy replicas stamped out over in china for about 30 bucks but I do understand because of the time involved.I generally end up giving away most of the things I make for people and sort of do it like " a labor of love " haha. I do woodworking for relaxation and not to sell but don't mind making things for people who do really appreciate them. I made my first guitars mainly for the "challenge" just to see if I could. Anyway guys , send those pics to broberson60@gmail.com and sometime in the future when you have forgotten all about it I might suprise you. That said I leave you with my " pile of guitars and pieces "

I have seen Santana, Johnny Winter and JIMMY HENDRIX a month and a half before he OD'd. John Lee Hooker would be wonderful. I, like yourself, used to live for concerts. To hell with the food, as long as we had alcohol and some whatever, we were fine. After all, it was the 60's and 70's.

Now to the top subject...Your Randy Rhoads V. One of the first 100 made. It is worth a fortune! Wow! They are such bad ass axes and to have one like that is really something to be proud of. Are you the original owner? Is it possible to post a pic of it?

Every now and then I run across a K.K. Downing Hamer V. There are a few floating around (One's he actually owned). I would love to get one. I have had the chance before, but couldn't justify the cash at the time. I love Glenn Tipton's guitars also. I love that Phantom of his. I am a big Judas Priest freak.
Man, this made me wonder if it wasn't Bill Graham who had to much JD ... Stephen Stills and Montrose? That's an odd combo, reminds me of seeing VH and David Lee Roth too drunk to even mouth the words one time. Too cool Bill, I got to see them (Montrose) pull off a one a kind (I think) little get together many, many years later as a reunion of sorts, Whitesnake opened for them and ... can't remember now, might have been Ratt. Loved Ronny on his own, GAMMA ...

An old story for ya ... I used to work for a company called Volume Services, they were the concessions people amongst other food services. I got to meet Ronny Montrose amongst others and on one occasion ...

We had 2 kitchens back then, a main for doing major dinners and the like and a smaller one for the Civic - consessions, hot dogs, that sort of thing. There was an old, broken down pizza oven that we used for storage - towels, misc stuff, we would put our lunches in there, whatever. Sammy was in town and I was busy setting up the upper concourse while he was doing warm ups. I had peaked over and saw he was heading back to the hotel so I bolted down the stairs to get my album signed. Caught up with him, exchanged greetings and asked if he could hold on a sec. while I grabbed the album. What I didn't realize was as I went into the kitchen he had followed me in ... I reached into the broken pizza oven to retrieve the album and all of a sudden I hear - "He pulled it out of the freeken oven!" He was cracking up ... And I was just ... in awe ... True story. In fact it was on a Halloween, I got backstage, even sat on the side stage taking pics ... Cool day's.

But, you saw Jimmy?! ... wow and a pretty young JW ... wow again. Damn Bill that is some cool stuff. Saw Johnny much later in a club that was notorious for it's poor ventilation, it would get unbearably hot ... They even opened the doors and eventually shut off the lights on the stage completely, he was frying up there and they finally had to cut it short ... First concert was a DOG (Day On The Green) - Zep, with Derringer and JP opened. They got booed! We thought they were some religious freaks since Halford was wearing a priest collar, we were just a bit to zealous of bands that we did know and suspicious of the ones we didn't, think I was 16 at the time ... 1977. Of course I later became a big fan of KK and Tipton ... We could go on for some time with this I bet! Kinda cool strolling down memory lane ...

The axe. Ah ... Randy was my idol, I broke down at the gas pump where I worked the day the news came that he had been killed, it devastated me ... I ended up going home early that day. When I found out that they were going to make that axe available I started socking away $20's every chance I got. Had a little cash registrar like piggy bank that I would stuff them in. The local Guitar Center had one at the time and I would leave to work early in the mornings just to stop and drool all over the window at it ... - They sold it before I got the chance but it ended up that one of the sales guy's I worked with made some calls around and gave them this BS line about me being 'somebody' LOL! and they held one for me up in SF. $1,200 cash then ... It is the coolest darn thing, fit me to a "t" being skinny and frankly almost Randy-ish looking, at least that was my effort ... I don't know now as you said about the value, it definitely got played, so it's got some dings and places where the paint chipped off ... # 94 etched in the fretboard. I doubt I would ever part with it though. Selling the half stack ripped me to shreds all those years back, was hurting at the time for cash.

Now, I would have to dig it back out of the closet to get a pic. Life changes and I hadn't picked it up in almost 5 years until last summer for a a sort of impromptu get together here at work - Was surprised how fast the chops came back and even more so that I could play straight! Kind of a long story, didn't listen to hardly any music at all for a number of years ... 'spiritual' things if you will, responsibilities at home, work ... Oh, I am a hopeless workaholic, might as well just admit it, I am at work right now! It's somewhat intentional though and an advantage that has been afforded me that I am grateful for, all this OT is helping tremendously towards getting out of debt. Starting to get the itch again just from all this reminiscing and chat from you guy's and some over at the waves ... SL, Fenderblue ... quite a few of us old rockers still around.

    Man, I'm rambling away here!

Ya, that Montrose / Stephen Stills lineup was a real blunder. Another one was Johnny Winters doing his album with Jumping Jack Flash on it (the rock album) and then followed by John Mayall. Our ears were ringing so bad from Johnny then Mayall came on and we couldn't even hear him.

That had to be a trip with Sammy. He is a pretty everyday dude and he sure loves that Cabo Wabo tequila that he owns. That pizza oven story is really funny!

I was down in Reno one time...actually on my wedding day and I ran across the lead singer, Mike Pinera for Iron Butterfly. He, I and the drummer and singer for Rare Earth, Pete Rivera were talking for quite a while and about the psychedelic days and then I asked Mike a question and he said he didn't know and to ask Spencer Davis. I said, Spencer Davis, Davis? and the guy standing right next to me turned around and said, Hi, I am Spencer Davis and he stuck his hand out and I introduced myself. So we were all chatting for about half an hour. They were all playing together in a rock and roll revival thing and they were having a concert that night, so my wife and I were there diggin it and all of the sudden they stopped the concert, called out our names and had us dance in front of the whole concert. After the dance they continued. When the concert was over people were coming up to us like we were famous or something. It was really cool.

Later years, I emailed Pete Rivera, because they were coming to Denver and he told me to just bring my email, come sit backstage with the boys before the concert and then enjoy it from the stage. I didn't go though because I had a scheduling conflict. They are really nice guys.

    Another quick one for you.
I used to live in Seattle. Well, I worked with a friend of mine named Art. We both worked at Boeing. Anyways, Art lived next door (and still may) to Jimi Hendrix's brother. So anyway, Art comes to work and says...guess what I did last night? I asked him what? He said Jimi and his brother next door were making so much noise playing, that I went over and knocked on the door and told them if they didn't keep it down I was going to call the police. - I was speechless...a deer staring into the headlights.

Any guitar under 100 is very valuable even if it is a player. You have a really valuable one there!

We'll have to talk about some of our concert experiences.....there was always something happening at those.

If you want to see some really beautiful guitars being swapped around, go to www.hamerfanclub.com There are some beauties that show up there.
