I did drive out of Boston like you said.......

I got so fed up with how rude everyone was in Boston that I just had to get out of town for awhile so I drove my VW camper van down the coast outside of town a bit. I parked on this beach and was enjoying watching the ocean and the sound of the waves. These cute girls walked up to my van and were flirting with me and smiling at me and they asked me if i wanted to go to this bonfire with them - I said sure. They said to follow them in the car so I did and then when we were on this bridge crossing an inlet my van couldn't make it up the hill and was driving funny. The bitches had let the air out of my VW van tires while they were flirting with me and my rear tire was ruined. My jack was missing the wrench so I walked for miles to this repair garage and asked if I could borrow a wrench and offered to leave a credit card and a deposit. The guys in the garage were total jerks and were making fun of me. I drove back to Boston and parked in front of a parking meter and went in the back of my van to grab some change for the meter and then as soon as I opened the door to feed the meter the cop was putting a parking ticket on my window and I had just ****ing parked and they wouldn't cancel the ticked because they said it was already printed.

I couldn't leave that whole area fast enough......
Went to college in ma and I never go back unless I am visiting friends and those friends won't come to Dc to visit me. That story has to be kind of funny in retrospect. Sounds like a movie. Side note. I think meter maids have more of an ego than law enforcement.

Last time I saw and was part of massive military downsizing was under Bill Clinton. I had bonuses in upwards of $55,000 thrown at me to take an early out from the Army. He sliced and diced the entire military across the board. He made the largest military cuts in US history at the time. He also cut back CIA spending. All Clinton's spending cuts did were help facilitate the 911 attack. The signs leading to the attacks were all there. There was the first Trade Center bombing. Then the Colbat Towers in Saudi, the Marine Barracks, and the USS Cole bombing which all preceeded 911.

Did we not just learn our lesson? Obviously we have a Commander in Chief who is absolutely clueless on what ACTUALLY keeps America safe. And much of the world for that matter. It's our having a strong defense (Military) which translates into the greatest deterent and helps greatly to keep the peace.
Doc - maybe it's me but I was under the impression that intelligence helped to prevent attacks and weapons/planes etc helped win wars. Isn't the idea to avoid war and prevent terrorist attacks? Not sure how having 140 million dollar fighter planes prevents that. If the admin cuts back on intel then we can agree but until then I'm not sure I get your point.

Just quoting Teddy Roosevelt, I used at my house with my kids while raising "Speak softly and hang the big stick on the wall" it seemed to have worked. Just knowing they may get spanked kept them more in line, the stick or paddle was ready IF needed. Same as the fighter jets.

Real Estate kind of just fell in my lap, my wife and I considered investing for retirement income and use the houses to sell and have renters pay the mortgage along the way. We were not sure the first time so we made a silly and I do mean silly offer and they accepted. Ever since them I figure if it is meant to be then I will get the silly price if not I move on. It has worked out very well, especially in this renters no credit market.

HOW TO BEGIN EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK

    1. Open a new file in your computer.

    2. Name it 'terrorism.

    3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.

    4. Empty the Recycle Bin.

    5. Your PC will ask you: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'terrorism?'

    6. Firmly Click 'Yes'

    7. Feel better?
