I think you may be onto something with that. I can't believe that a loving God would throw good loving people into a burning hell because they didn't believe something in a specific way. Native Americans call God - "The Great Mystery".........
Let's not get into the whole Catholic church thing! As a person who was raised in that church spiritually and was an altar boy etc etc...I am not a fan of church...but I am a fan of GOD!

Native American people and culture have always fascinated me. They truly were in tune with the world and their place in it. Unfortunately, their way of life and their culture was attacked by those who didn't understand them and the "Church" in the name of god...when God would never have done them any harm!

Well, It might not be murder, but your definately interferring with a natural biological process, an athiest may say nothing more important than a skin cell splitting in two. I guess it would depend on your world view. If your asking what the biblical answer would be, I would think all sex should come into the context of potential reproduction consquences(not saying the calender method might not be gods little blessing for mankind) of the two committing the act. If your using a condomn and its breaks, I suppose you should just take your chances. Or you shouldnt be having sex in the first place.

Ya, well the Indians also believe that their are spirits in animals. Thats taoism, in a sense, which isnt far off buddism(spiritual energy, rebirth into the light stuff). It all has the same origins. I suggest reading anything by Joseph Campell. He does an excellent job explaining common mythos, subconscious mind, and how its not really possible on a cultural or apparent geographical possibility. Too many seperate cultures displaying the same underlying mythos's. Carl Jung has some interesting thoughts about the collective unconscious as well. Not a huge fan of everythig he has to say, and he was a bit of a gnostic for me, but still useful in a secualar undestanding of the brain, nevertheless.
What they all come to is the same reason the old testament has always given, and is older than all their research capabilities. When man came together, they had a common culture. This was asundered, and the peoples were spread out across the world. To not conjegate again(of course they did). Apparently God observed(and rightly so) that man, once assembled in large masses, tended to stray easier and faster. He preferred them to not take to cities, instead create great gardens and farming communities, and use and be one with the land.
See, God is smart. Hes even the perfect environmentalist, before it was cool.
