Thanks for the laugh Trip. Unlike you, I don't wear political glasses. I call a spade a spade. Is it my fault that Clinton pushed hard to have the "Community Reinvestment Act" initiated full force and spearheaded by folks like Sen Barney Frank and Franklin Raines (the former CEO of Fannie) to make loans available to as many minorities and low income folks as possible. In laymans terms...GIVE LOANS TO PEOPLE WHO HAD NO BUSINESS EVER GETTING A LOAN.

Was it Bill Clintons idea to reform welfare, or was it Newt Gingrich's? It wa Newt's vision, and wih the first Rep majority in nearly 50 yrs, the Reps reformed welfare, lowered taxes, and balanced the budget. To Clinton's credit, after numerous polls showed the American people overwhelmingly favored these bills, Clinton then regretably signed all these bills into law. In doing so, he pissed off a good deal of his own party in the process. The 90's unleashed America with true Conservative Reps in the Senate and in Congress.

The new millenia gave us GW, and 911. GW started off his tenoir with a conservative bang by lowering taxes. He then kept us all safe by not allowing one attack on our soil to preceed after 911. Here's where I differ greatly from someone like you Trip, I am able to call a spade a spade, regardless of my party loyalties...

After 911, the ONCE Conservative Reps began to spend like drunken sailors. Bush misplaced his veto-pen and allowed all the spending to take place. No words of balancing the budget ever passed the lips of the Reps or GW. Spend was the order of the day.GW and some Reps knew of the inevitable and pending Housing Crisis that was about to rear its ugly head in full force. Yet they spoke softly and gave us a warning in a whispe-tone, and in the end allowed it to happen...even though Clinton, Barney Frank, Mr Raines, and Sen Chris Dood all spearheaded the idea of loaning money top people who could NEVER pay it back.

The party I once admired, had fallen of the turnup truck, and became liberal type out of control spenders like the Dems. Rge Re;s didn't stop there, they went ahead and nominated a LIBERAL Rep by the name of John McCain to run for President.

Both partys have their demons. Unlike you liberals, I'm able to TRUTHFULLY critique all areas of govt, and certainly not the stereo-typical Dem vs Rep crap. The Rep Party began to leave me when Newt stepped down. Until they realize they need to stand for something, such as their roots of heritage, and actually preach conservatism and fiscal responsibility, they will stay the minority party. All areas of our government are corrupt and under seige. Until Americans start to demand the truth in politics, things won't change for the better any time soon.

I take a fact as a fact. Whereas Liberals drink the kool-aid and therfore their eyes are shut to the truth.

Your idea that conservatives have all the right ideas and liberals have all the wrong ideas is completely flawed logic. EACH side can point to certain things in the past and say they are better than the other sometimes with no definitive backup to support their theory.

The main issue with conservatism today is there is a HUGE difference between a conservative and a CONSERVATIVE IN OFFICE. This was not the case up until the last 8 years or so, but it seems that the power that was gained by the Bush administration and congress after 9/11 was mismanaged and the conservatives in office got sucked into this power hungry, quasi-patriotic, "we are over-spending for good things we promise" attitude. They failed in their own ideals and have NO integrity or respect any more from the majority of Americans, which showed in the polls 2 years ago and in November. Also, if the only alternative a conservative in office has to the current crisis and proposed stimulus is to "cut taxes for everyone" instead, they will sink even lower.

What helped the liberals is their lack of insight and lack of action. LOL. They are being rewarded because they basicly did nothing when this went on and are reaping the benefits for it today.

I think the conservative side AND liberal side both have decent ideas, if used in moderation and intermixed with the others. Neither a completely conservative NOR a completely liberal agenda would benefit this country as a whole. I think Obama has done a decent job so far (considering what he jumped into, and remember spending more will help us out of this mess, cutting more will not. It sucks but cannot be avoided atm). He has been far more centrist than I thought he would be, and the proof in that is when you hear about how many Democrats disagree with his strategies. <<<That is a good sign.

BTW- SiriusXM closes around 36.5 today (my on-topic moment)

Dont get me wrong but there is a difference as said before between the people (especially in office) and the issue of being conservative. Believe me they fricked up. That is why they lost control of congress. Lets get one thing striaght though they lost control not because they were not conservative enough it was because they went the other way. The only thing we should start to mimic libs on is when we have a congressmen/senator sending letters to a page we should not just through them under the bus like we do. We should do what the democrats did when one of them got cought actually screwing a under age (17) page, you know give them a award and put them in charge of a commitee.
