I remember a popular opinion of most people on this board prior to the Liberty deal becoming a reality was something along the lines of Malone having some exposure to the Q4/year end numbers and liking what he saw. Otherwise why bother with the investment? Or something along those lines....I'm paraphrasing. Sooo, after seeing the report, can we assume that was indeed the case? I mean, yes there are some concerns which remain, but I definitely feel as if the worst is behind this company, and with Liberty on board (pun intended), I sincerely hope this CC marks the jumpstart of the company, and more importantly, the SP. We all deserve it. Even Brandon.

Ok Cos, wait... Rick said that he was promoting you to colonel, now you are calling yourself Major, and Relmor wants you to be a general. You guys are skipping way to many ranks! Perhaps we could settle with Lieutenant Colonel?

Rick: I will need a list of your names and ranks for all members of your army ON THE DOUBLE! (Include me so I know where I sit, alright? )

    relmor,
I am with you not against you..... I myself, when I read the 10K last night, was very happy to see positive net subs.... I never thought that we would have more than 19.1M subs, we had 19.003M subs. I guess that's a miss, but I still see any growth as positive... I also understand the metrics in relation to subsidy for chipsets to OEM's (an investment for future revenue / profit which is an expense), and revenue share to OEM partners for new subscribers as another expense. Growth in the early stages of this company was important, but now it costs them money also. These are two reasons, that with lower sub growth in the OEM market certain expenses went down.... Also I don't buy Brandon's bullshit argument about Retail subs being lost at 333K, meaning that they just disappeared and the retail market went away. That number represents net retail subs and means that, as John said, a lot of retail subs were added to get only 333K LOST, with their reported churn...

Let's face it, merging on Aug 1, 2008 doesn't allow for a meaningful product cycle during the holidays, even in a good economy. I would argue strongly that the Bad Economy and FCC Approval oddly saved them money... Can you imagine their losses in the retail product side if they had been merger approved in May 08, invested a lot of new money into product development, marketed the new products, and found Circuit City going out of business and the rest of the retail population not spending on gadgets like Sat Rad.... It could have been much worse.

Timing will be everything for this company, and growth at any cost is not important.... Increasing revenue by effectively managing already existing investments in the delivery of content network (all those radios OEM installed) and the Internet, can bring more increases to their margin than adding one more OEM sub..... The development of software apps for portable equipment, already in the field can harvest good returns.... we know the possibilities, now the comany needs to unitize it to make money.....

Newman as a veteran I understand rank..... I appreciate all of the promotions, but Major is lessor of those ranks and keeps me close to the people that serve on the line.... In the Air Force it's Second Lt., First Lt., Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel (full bird), General (and their are five grades of those).... Also in the AF, without a rank of Major by your 19th year, your Captain bars are taken away and your put down to a NCO for your last year before retirement.... so that you can retire with officer pay but not the rank.... No one retires as a Captain or under in the Air Force..... I would be honored to be a Major.....

Yes, cos1000, they were barely able to maintain growth through there best quarter. REgardless of my optimisim long term for the company being run by a compenent board, which i feel they will have now, negative growth will kill this stock on the street. Geez, if Mel farts the stock drops 20%.

Rick, as far as Brandon is concerned and his demotion, now is not the time for punitive action.... The man needs to be authorized some personal leave at this time.... He's got himself.... how should I say this.... All Turned Around.... first he thinks this, then... he thinks that , after showing obvious confusion.... he then turns on his own fundamental thinking ,... very disappointing... some say his turned a 180 and others think a 360, right back where he started from..... he just needs a little time and then maybe he can tell us what he wants us to do.....

relmor, this past 4Q cannot be looked at in the absence of a Global Financial meltdown.... this cannot be compared to any of their past 4Q's in terms of operational management and it even remotely failing.... This company showed growth, when almost ( and I say that because only Walmart and MacDonalds had growth) all companies shrunk..... 35% decline in auto sales and this company grew.... I'm sorry your just not giving them any credit for good execution and that amazes me.....

One item for consideration - will we be proceeding with demotion for PFC Matthews, Brandon or will we consider the last week's corrective training successful.... I have a few foxholes that need filling in.....
I think he gets latrine duty! Never mind the demotion for now!

Cos, sounds like you think he may be in for an article 35? His recent bipolar habits might grant him grounds.
