I will agree then that it is a arguable opinion that because of the economy there will be little retail that it does not matter to count. As you know I disagree and we will see shortly because this quarter is almost over. Just keep in mind as far as the 2 months in the first quarter there was most likely growth because of the statements made buy Malone and Liberty that they feel it is very good that in this economy that any company could keep growing (when refering to SIRXM). You and I both know they saw all the numbers up to the time of the deal.
That still leaves this:
Ho come on dont blow smoke up my ass Brandon thats not going to work. Your logic is totally false, and thats because you base it on faulty premises. For instance:
"21,000,000 subscribers times 1.7 % monthly churn = 4,284,000 deactivated subscribers."
Now that was directly from your article there is just one problem with this and that is Churn is figured by the company every month it is given to us every 3 months with the avreage churn rate figured in. You cant take 2 million gross subscribers for the year add that to the beginning number of net subscribers and then try to figure churn on that, the problem I have is you absolutely positively know it and you are still tring to get away with it.
Paratrooper_Rick, If you ask someone for directions and they give you the wrong ones, so you end up even more lost would that be helpful to you or a hinderance. I dont care if they are wrong opinions that are positive or negative about this or any company I will say it is wrong. Finally I could never stand when people would say I dont mind I learn from all the opinions, well thats funny because what would you learn if someone said 2 + 2 = 5. thats right you learn absolutely nothing from that answer, right. Are you getting the point.
john..
It falls back to accountability. When a common poster says "I just bought 1 gazillion shares, BUY BUY BUY", everyone knows where thats coming from. When someone aspiring to be a professional makes a statement, that person needs to be extremely carefull in the words they choose, and the facts of their statements. It does influence the retail investor. At @07:00hrs on the 17th, I was looking for somewhere to go with a closed Citi position. By accident I stumbled across a news article stating that SIRI had been saved from BK. I use the marine weather service and was shocked to hear that they had even been close to BK. I started buying blocks pre market, during market, and during market the next day. I found the SA site and started reading the post of people who have migrated here. Had I found that site prior to my pre market buys, I would have waited. It still worked for me, as I had reserved cash and doubled my position at 0.13. The point is this: I regulary take a small boat 50 miles out into some of the most treacherous waters in the US of A. The most modern, up to date charts, the most modern up to date electronics, cannot suplant 'local knowledge'. Every captain on the water knows this. I believe the same is true in this environment. No retail investor, such as myself, can possibly hope to achieve the 'local knowledge' demostrated by some of the posters of this site. Had I began my DD search of SIRI on the morning of 03/06 vs 02/17, and stumbled across Mr. Brandons article, I absolutely would not have bought any share until further investigation, and that would have cost me money, as >50% of my share is in the green today. Each person must do his own DD. That's a given. I still say Mr. Brandon had ample "probable cause" not to have written his article, and I for one will seek 'local knowledge' from the various posters of this site who have demonstated logic and sound reasoning. Even though a lot of you do not agree with each other, it is sitll good 'local knowledge' and up to me to weigh out each side of the debate, and chart my own course. thanks.
I get what you are saying - I am simply trying to say that from Brandon's standpoint - he believes he is right - whether he is or not - lets not spend the rest of this week debating it. I for one am glad it didn't result in a worse situation than it could have..... and I agree it most likely impacted the SP...
I may be a junior poster - fine - I get that - my second point is that you guys are spending an entire weekend tearing into brandon's facts or lack thereof instead of getting past it and moving toward more productive endeavors......
If you had written something you utterly/totally believed in ... stuck it out on a line with the intention of helping everyone else out.... and then found out it wasn't exactly true..... I'm sure you'd have 1. regretted it 2. Moved on after the what if's subsided and got on to more productive things.... The fact is - I believe Brandon's overall helping SIRI investors alot more than this one article could ever reverse....
Now I'm really backing out of this... I'd like to accomplish some good research today.........
Paratrooper Rick..

That is precisley the point. I, along with many others, watched each moment of his post. Hitting the refresh button every 60 seconds. Closely following the discussion, and watching his reactions during the discussion. I watched as senior poster's called for him to stop and reconsider, recheck the math, to think about what he was about to do ( re writing the article). He reminded me of a long legged puppy, running wide open through the forrest, about to smack into a tree at any moment, only to wake up saying "Which way did they go George?" A "professional" has to be held to a higher standard, in his chosen field of endevor, than us mere mortals. I would say, Trust in those of this forum who have shown common sense and wisdom, then temper that trust with your own sense of judgement. That said, I would be more than happy to forget about it if only people would stop bringing it up.![]()
For the record. I wrote that article the night before. I then deleted the article after seeing "wait brandon dont do it" as I had it scheduled to post within that hour.
I thought about it for 8 hours after that. I read the comments. I then rewrote the article and published it. It was the right thing to do.
Brandon/john
For the better part of 2 days now, you 2 with the help of your friends have cont to bash each others heads in. So far, it has gotten all of absolutely nowhere.
Can we now begin to focus our undivided attention to the task at hand...Staying 1 step ahead of MSM and trying like hell to get back our investment back and actually make some money!
As always, I value both of your opinions!!!!
Paratrooper_Rick, First of all dont be offended, I dont care if you are a new poster or Charles (and you can ask him yourself) I treat everyone the same.
Now as for me thinking Brandon did anything to the PPS, Hell no. Are you kidding me first of all I dont think Brandon has that much pull here, that if you took all the shares everyone owned and asked how many sold because of him the average would have been (and Brandon forgive me) NEGLIGIBLE. To say nothing of the amount of the shares out, what 3.5 billion.
P.S. You will be back, you may not post but you will be back to read, Just common sense here, I am counting on human nature.
