Hey SLY...stayed up late 2:30 am to watch the finale of the President's cup...it was close and for once, pretty exciting to watch. The Americans got off to fast start but then seemed to do everything they could to give away their advantage. It came down to Sangmoon Bae vs. Bill Haas on the final hole. I thought Bae was gonna pull out an upset of the Presidents' Cup for the Internationals because the kid had been just solid all week and Haas was, in my opinion, the weakest player on the American team but Bae came up short - litterally - when it counted most.....while I was of course rooting for the Americans, I felt bad for Bae in front of his hometown crowd and playing in his last match before serving his 3 year military obligation - Kid just was tough as nails all week. See the attached for a video recap of the last day....60 seconds to see what took me about 5 hours to watch.

Thanks User. I lasted only until 12:30, so looks like my homework assignment before the NFL begins today is to fast forward my DVR and sit down to watch the final two hours.

PS. You would not believe after all the detailed home entertainment scheduling I've gone through to ensure all my bases are covered for the college games, golf and NASCAR last night and NFL today, just as I thought I had it cast in stone, a buddy phoned after dinner last night asking if I could be at the boat dock at 6:30 this morning for a day of offshore fishing. Maybe if it meant I didn't have to set the alarm for 4am, I would have sacrificed today's agenda. So, here I am, having my first cup of java and ready to settle in for my original TV schedule of the day beginning with that final two hours of the President's Cup........ Have a great day.

Enjoy! One question for you, tapping into your gf club expertise again; how much do you think i will cost to have my 6 iron repaired with a new shaft and is it worth the trouble/cost vs just going out and getting an end of year special?

I'm really out of touch with today's repair costs. I suggest you can phone your nearest Golfsmith or Dick's, or any other local such retailer where they do custom fitting, repairs, etc. , and they could give an accurate estimate. Rough guess for new steel shaft, new grip, and labor......... $40???? Maybe more, maybe less.

Regarding whether or not it is worth it, I would say that possibly if one shaft has deteriorated to that point of failure, others in the bag may be about to suffer the same fate........ I know that Golfsmith has a Used Club bin so you might compare the repair cost to the price of a decent used club from that bin which would hold you over until you are ready to spring for a new set..

EDIT: I purchased my last new set of clubs off of eBay. I first checked price at Golfsmith then found identical merchandise at eBay for roughly half of retail price. I later got a new Taylormade driver (retail price $399) for $140 on eBay (new, in unopened packaging, including head cover). Had similar scenario with a Cobra 4-Hybrid from eBay for $79 compared with retail price of $139.
You might search eBay to see if you find similar bargains in what you are looking for.

Oh wow... that was original. Sounds like someone is a little irritated about his broken golf club.

Touche' I have 2 sets of ping golf clubs. The old beryllium copper square heads and some graphite pings. I like the graphites. Tempted to have the copper shafts replaced with graphite.
