I have subscribed to both Sirius and XM for years. There was some things I liked about Sirius, but always thought that the XM programming philosophy was superior. What the merger is doing to XM's channel lineup seems more dramatic than what is happening to Sirius....
Here is the new Sirius channel line up.....is your favorite channel being cancelled?

LOL, I just posted for someone to get over the channel change, and now I see the new lineup. XM RAW is gone, replaced by SHADE 45. XM RAW played better Rap than SHADE 45, but oh well.
The reply I got from SHADE 45 was to email your dj's often and request they play the kind of music you want to hear, call them, email them. They must change for the customers, they are playing the music for us, otherwise why bother.
Let your voice be heard, they want the feedback to make the service better.
I believe with our input they will merge the best of the two channels and not just make a complete over write. It could also be possible that you may have to listen an hour earlier or later to catch specific genre. We shall see. Im glad at this point (LOL) Im only an investor, but as soon as I can I will be a subscriber, I have tried the freebie and love it. The pain will be quick and hopefully we will all be heard.
PS. does anyone have a count of how many additional channels of bandwidth were gained on today's new channel lineup?
JAZZ.. THEY ARE CUTTING CHANNELS THAT ARE LEAST FAV.. THEY KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE LISTNING TOO.. MORE AC DC![]()
New channel lineup is ass... They removed three quarters of the stations I enjoyed. Replaced by "Pop2K"... What the hell? If I wanted this I'd listen to terrestrial.
The former Beyond Jazz DJ, Michelle Sammartino, posted a message today on her and the former PD and DJ of Beyond Jazz, Russ Davis new website.....
I hope the savings to Sirius by canceling Beyond Jazz makes up for the loss of subscribers that migrate to their online radio offering....

11/12/08 - Hiya Folks, Michelle here. Firstly, holding back emotion I write this to thank all of you for the flooding of emails I have received all morning since Beyond Jazz was removed from the air as of midnight last night. It was a rough day all day yesterday listening to the channel that held so many dreams in it's "airwaves". Dreams of the musicians who finally had a voice, dreams of the listeners who found new discoveries and always had wonderful suggestions for new additions to our ridiculously immense playlist, dreams of Russ and I to present this music to you because we dig it so much. But the dream is not lost with the demise of XM, it will just be resurrected somewhere else. WHY? Because of all of you! YOU - the listeners are the reason that we are working tirelessly to put MOJARadio together for you. A MOJA Community! We hope to have not just music here, but a place for all of you to share your passions and ideas about this music with everyone who shares that passion. Musicians included!
So STAY TUNED! We will keep you posted right here on our progress. And THANK YOU so much for all the love and support over the years... it makes it that much more imperative to work on this new project and fill the void left by Satellite Radio. WE all know how to appreciate great art! CHEERS! Onward and upward!
For 5 years, my number 1 preset has been buzzsaw...
Et tu, Buzzsaw?
Looks like Scott Walterman's last day is friday, although he has been off of the air for a couple of days now. He has now updated his website and he says that he is not being retained by the new management....

Scott Walterman
Current position: Senior Director of News Programming, XM Satellite Radio. (till Friday)
Wow. I know it sounds trite to say that working at XM was a once in a life opportunity but truly it was.
I have been blessed. Over my 30 plus years in radio and television I’ve been so very lucky to work at some of the greatest nameplates in broadcasting; ABC, CBS, NBC, RKO. I’m just a kid from Miami who got to work in some of the greatest shops in our business.
When I first came to XM for my interview and Dave Logan walked me through the second floor I was dazzled by what Tony and his crew had built. I had never seen such a thing.
But the thing that truly blew me away was the people that had been hired to be at XM on the programming staff. Some of the great names in radio - and I thought to myself - I have to be here to be part of this.
Now, it's time to move on. I'm not being retained by the new management in the merged company.
I'm sad, because I really loved XM. I really loved being with you each morning on POTUS. POTUS was the crown of a very long seven/eight years at XM. I knew in my heart that if we designed the channel to be smart and funny and loose and honest - you would love it too. And I can't thank you enough for all of your emails - it makes it all worth it. You did believe what I believed - and you did love it as I loved it.
I am happy too today. I leave with having met people with whom I will be friends for life. Good people. Good times to remember.
I'm taking some time off and poking around for the next big thing. I love the news business and have great hope for its future.
One of my great inspirations has been Hunter S Thompson who wrote in his book "Generation of Swine"
"I have spent half my life trying to get away from journalism, but I am still mired in it - a low trade and a habit worse than heroin, a strange seedy world full of misfits and drunkards and failures."
And therefore I can't imagine not being a journalist - I just need some sleep.
