It sounds like the golf was fun. I used to golf a lot. Every day. Until I got so tired of it. My Dad used to make me go with him. We were on a par three over a water hazard and I told him that he was going to miss and his ball would go in the water. He told me, "No, it won't". I said, "Oh ya, it is going to go into the water". He said, "NO IT ISN"T!". I said, "Oh ya, it's going to go into the water." He yelled, "G D it! It's not going in the f'n water!" Well, he swung, it went into the water, I ducked behind his cart while he threw a nine iron at me and the club hit the cart and the shaft broke in half. We had one more hole to go to get to the club house. It is all blurry after that, but he didn't make me go anymore!
    Damn that's funny!

Ah thanks Bill needed that ... been kind of an aggravating day, tired, a bit cranky.

I love the game as well, was actually out hitting the driving range this summer a bit ... Not much difference between that game and this one, short of getting 30 mph winds behind our sails

Going back to the MM's ...

Good bit there Bill, he did kind of throw me in a few places ... hard to tell when he was talking about human MM's and the programs sometimes.

To be honest, I am still confused by it all.

Not only do we have regular 'human' MM's but programs ... competing programs? How could that possibly work?

Chicken burritos and whatever that drug is that makes you sleepy from eating .... zzzzz

Thank you for the kind words today. Really helped me get through a tough day. Spent 4 days with her...helping her to begin to get her life together...Came home last night...Hated to leave her at this time!

Since we are talking golf...Used to play alot as a kid...went to par 3 with my dad...he sucked at golf...got to the 7th hole...about 120 yards...greenskeeper was on the green...my dad...very impatient...took out a 5 iron( i told you he sucked)...said...if he doesn't get off the green...I'm going to hit him in the ass! Waited about 5 seconds...teed off...skulled the 5 iron...1 bounce...hit him squarely in the ass! I think I was about 11 or 12 at the time...almost pissed my pants! Guy was pissed! My dad...calmly stated...I yelled fore...you must not have heard me! Of course not...the guy was mowing the green!

    Burritos sound good.

You know the MM named AUTO? He is automatic....a computer that matches everything up.

NITE is human or at least semi-human. It can run off of humans or automatically from algorithms.

Some of the MM's are fully automatic..some are semi-automatic and some are human.

A market maker is a guy (or machine) that puts deals together. One guy wants to sell 5000 @ 1.00, the market maker will buy it and he will stash it. After he buys it from you, he will ask 1.05 for the 5000 and make .05 on 5,000. So he has worked within the spread. 1.00 to 1.05.

This is why they are jacking the price around all of the time..to make money in the spread.

Now if the stock takes off like crazy, well, they get lost in the dust and this is where they can start losing money. They have to be really careful.

O.K. Now with MGLG and no market makers there, the orders just go into the exchange through your broker and it is all done electronically there. This can be a huge advantage without MM's because there is nobody there to dictate and slow down the price. With this in mind, MGLG could do just about anything without MM's there. It just depends on which way the buyers and sellers want to push it, because they are in charge.

Market Makers are a pain in the ass, but they are a buffer to prevent stock pps going through the ceiling and then crashing like lightening and vice versa.

Maybe that makes a little sense...
