    Wow...I spent all this time focused on BEHL and didnt realize BCLE made a little run today too, and SIRI took a nose dive!!!! Go figure!

    Hey alaska!!! what kind of bait do you use for halibut? about how deep of water do they sit in?? is that a gill you have your hand in?

    Why thank you for the question, tree....Let me show you...If you dont mind a few more pictures

    I use a 24 ounce jighead, with a white grub tail, baited with herring or a salmon belly as was in this case.....I caught this one in 130ft of water and I cut the gills to bleed them out.....



    Butts this big, you cant just throw in the boat..its too dangerous....they are strong enough to break a leg...so.....you have to shoot them!!!

    Are they aggressive or strong fighters or is it basically like pulling a log up from the bottom?

    The big ones are sort of like pulling up a log, they have pretty strong head shakes. The small ones fight a lot more and will head to the bottom once they break water. I had a 200 lber do that once, no gun on the boat and I tried gaffing it and missed, he zipped back down to 180ft, after about 20 minutes and borrowing a gun from another boat, he was in the boat.
