Sorry Rick, you haven't been here long enough to have an opinion. Go back to writing your SEC e-mails if you need a cause. (Just joking by the way )

However.. a 3-strike rule is just silly. The answer is simple, the Moderators should be doing their job. I haven't read anything from anyone that deserves a ban. If political talk in the daily thread is taboo (which it should be) just delete the post and leave a link to either the Posting rules or a link to the political discussion area. Easy! no one gets banned, get's told to stand in the corner, or have their mother saying I'm going to count to 3 and if you don't..... eventually people will get the hint. Bottom line, moderator should be doing his job.

As far as pissing contests go, eventually a Moderator needs to step in, but I don't have a problem with people trying to make a point. Sometimes two people need to "work" it out. Take airman and john... they have come to an understanding (whether or not they "like" each other is another thing). I think just about everyone on this board, given the right opportunity, has been able to come to an understanding regarding any disagreements. Again, maybe the moderator lets them know that after a point, all subsequent posts will be deleted, so take it private.

All good folks here with something to contribute. You can't put this many diverse people together with differing views on the world, right and wrong, etc and not expect to have some conflict. A moderator's job is to manage that conflict in the right way.

Damn moderators, I hope they get to work!

All kidding aside, I think I do a fairly good job managing these boards. I do try to be quite lienient (sp?) because Charles, Brandon, and I like to argue just as much as the next guy and it would by hypocritical of me to tell you guys to stop it or give you a "strike" while we do it in another forum or thread.

It is also the reason that we changed the intraday thread to a DAILY thread instead of the weekly format. The traffic increased significantly, but so did the arguments. With a daily format, the same thread does not continue with the same griping and arguing from day to day like it had in the past couple of weekly threads.

I've already raised my children. My rule has always been to let them fight as long as no one gets hurt. Tomorrow its forgotten.

Debate and arguments are healthy. When it starts to get out of hand, myself or Brandon or Charles will step in. The fact that each daily thread has over 10k views and over 100 replys, while not being degraded to the status of YaZOO or ZOOgle is quite a testament both to the community of people that we have here and to the quality of posts that we have here.

I will take this opportunity to pat myself on the back. (Oh, and Brandon and Charles too).

Not really. It has been shorted already. We're talking about making pennies. There are bigger fish to fry, and more fun and joy to be had elsewhere. If the shorts were really good sports, they'd help drive SIRI upward and do it all over again. That way some of longs, who hold the stock because we love the product can get out.

I just think its funny how when some of these people go from a junior member to a senior member it goes to their head....They dont know how long some of us have been here...I say its time for the 3 strike rule to go in effect......3 strikes and your out.....This site is a tool to stay informed and to get others people views and collective information....and even if we disagree on a subject we should be able to remain civil but when it gets personal and unproductive it should stopped ASAP....Anyway keep up the good work guys...and the others who want to have pissing matches grow up!!!!

We all know that remaining Civil is not always possible.... I have been here since Mar 2008 and have had a few occasions where being Civil was simply not possible if I was to still be defined as being "Human".... I make mistakes also.... I'd say I would have strike two already and maybe three or four, but for the most part, I try to have reasonable, not always intelligent discussion. My attempt with Joeboo1 was to point out that "John", who has been here since April or May of 2008, and I know needs no defense from me, should be valued much more than a Crappy Twelve pack of beer. My other attempts, as John being the "Lightning Rod" that he is, drew others into berating me for defending him, was to suggest self deprecating humor rather than to make someone else the butt of your joke... This was an attempt to avoid "Piling On" and was not successful.... Instead of piling on with John, they piled on me.... I am not offended, but lost my ability to be civil, in my bad typing example to JohnnyIrish....

You can see how this discussion has you giving yourself "Strike One" while I typed my explanation... I believe everyone including those directly involved.... AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE... have a lot to offer this board and to allow an incident like this to ban anyone is as Ridiculous as thinking taking some other poster down with off handed remarks and "Humor" is.... So Otone you can see I agree and I do not expect the moderators to be that involved... unless they want to and the remarks are that egregious... JMHO

I have no problem with anyone posting here as long as it is civil and disagreements are backed up with reasonable replies of your View point

As far as the crappy beer joke,anyone who like myself,read the post on here for a while before joining knows that John's post about what he thinks is wrong about your post comes off as borish and rude when first read.But then you think about what he said (after a so called flame war)he had some valid points.Now anyone who drinks beer like myself knows that when you go to a party and run out of your favorite beer,your first reaction to what is left is no way i'm drinking that POS beer,but before long your drinking it and saying not bad beer this POS....

Hey no apology needed. I personally think you can say whatever you want. Now others would like it taken to another thread and if they get really long then that would most likely be best but I think a little spice keeps this thread interesting. In the end the comment was funny and really after all the crap and spending so much time on this stock I think we need to be able to laugh and have a good debate about other things on the same thread every once in a while (as long as they are short enough).
