    Countdown To Pandora's End

    Over the last two years, record companies have tried to squeeze excessive royalties from Internet-radio stations -- the very stations that can help fuel future digital-music sales -- and it's endangering some Web-based radio firms.
    The issue will be in the spotlight later this month, when a federal court in Washington, D.C., hears oral arguments over an appeal filed by an industry association representing Webcasting companies like Pandora and Live365....

    it was only a matter of time before artists(labels) wanted to start getting paid for all these plays that they get worldwide.

    good news for us, definitely.

    OK, who IS paying royalties besides the suckers in Satellite Radio? I don't listen to Terr. Radio but are they really doing that much for record companies? More than Sirius? Even when they did, it was more mainstram stuff and not some of the niche stuff that internet radio plays. Am I wrong here?

    It's ironic how the record companies used to have "payolla" to pay radio stations to play the songs of their choice. Now they want to be paid for the songs being played. Only brings me to these thoughts.
