SIRI might have "gone under" if not for Liberty Media's money. That doesn't mean that Mel K. has to be forever "grateful" and do whatever Malone says now. If Malone said "you know what, I don't like the Howard Stern contract, let's kill it", does that nullify the existing contract between SIRI and Stern?

Congress had their chance to prevent bonus payouts, BEFORE they handed over the money. Mistake made, now live with it. This is a very childish move, IMHO. It's like, if the feds didn't like the OJ Simpson murder trial verdict, they pass a new law that states that all professional football players named OJ Simpson have to go to jail for 25 years, just because they said so.

Hi everyone. . . .first time poster here. I have been lurking in the shadows for a while and I have learned quite a bit from everyone, so THANKS for that. I have been in SIRI since 03/16/04 when I bought 100 shares for $3.03. Since then I have bought many more times. Unfortunately, I also bought quite a few shares at $7.00, and greed got the better of me many times recently when I tried to squeeze out one more penny on buy orders in the 13 cent range and those orders never got executed, so my lowest position in SIRI is 10700 shares at $.17. I just sold 10700 shares today at $.34 and bought a bunch at $.33.

I have a question that I was hoping someone could help me with. I have the ability to choose (in E*Trade) for the books which shares I just sold today. I could choose to show that the 10700 shares I sold came from the $7.00 shares i hold, or I could choose to show that I just sold the .17 shares.

If I choose to reflect that I sold my 10700 .17 shares, it reflects my average pps as being around $1.80. I think by doing it this way, it gives me a true picture of where I am and where I need to get to in order to become whole again. BUT it also then reflects a short term GAIN.

If I mess around with which lot I sold, then I can reflect a long term LOSS greater than or equal to my short term GAIN. Also, my PPS goes down when I do this.

Soooooooooooo, my qeustion is: Given the information provided above, what is the best way to structure my 10700 share sale today???

    thanks for your help,

    john

    Welcome my friend...

That's a pretty cool feature that you get to assign multiple buys and sells of the same ticker. I have to do mine manually come Schedule D time. But IMHO, if I were doing it manually as I say, of course I would take it as the loss first. You still make some scratch back on the actual sale but don't need to post the gain until you've accounted for all of the $7.00 buy loss (and ouch dude). Too bad we can only write off 3K a year. Of course the wild card is if you rely heavily on your trading as income and want to show the gain for '09 for income level purposes, then you take the gain now of course. Or if you don't quite have 3K in losses for your Schedule D and want more deduction this year, then you're back to the 7.00. Dude, it just depends on what you need more given your circumstances...a gain or a loss...

(after that we tanked for good) But of course this is better cause there's no revalue coming in about 2 weeks LOL....and debt is squared away for now....
Thats funny I remember that day! I just started to buy at that time. I was gonna start with a 1000 shares then try to sell them and compound my position by buying back and adding on...that was my game plan...that day I had try to put in a order for sale and the brokers page was down online...I miss my only chance and have been adv down ever since...and today was my first day since then to not only get even but come out ahead...not to mention to get their i had to buy another 49,000 shares!
    Good Luck to you

Maybe its finally hitting home with investors. You will be able to buy a Siriusxm radio product in a ton of places.

Yes sl62, I sold a 1/4 position at .36, I thought my .31 cent order would fill, and I looked away to type in here I rebought. When I went back it partial filled and took off. I was trying for .32 and missed it. Im below my core, and not happy about that, but I still have plenty of shares to ride up, waiting for a pullback. If one never happens, Ill still be meeting you in vegas to celebrate hitting .50 cents. That will give me almost all my money back. I will begin to daytrade this stock again soon, so Im not worried.

killerkaul I need it to go a lot higher then this. If you recall a year and a half ago we were talking about a much higher PPS. While many of you may have sold and bought back at a lower PPS I just kept buying, NEVER SOLD FOR A LOSS. So I am in the position now that I need it to get to at least .70 just to get just over 1/2 of everything I reput back in and that is if I sell it all. So really I need it to go much higher then that .70. I have not done the math to be exact (I have three brokerage accounts with 2 and 3 accounts in each and yes I have stinking SIRIXM shares in each account.) So if you think your life sucks because of SIRIXM just take a look at me, and if I can still laugh at it so can most others. So to put it bluntly killer lets talk again if it hits 3 I will be happy to go just to party.

I also will stop calling this stock a pig once it gets past .70.

Some of us bought so low, were going to do one in vegas at .50 cents. Right Killer? Sl62, cos1000, a bunch of numbers? , mogami I hope and many others I failed to mention that came from seeking alpha. WOuld I really get to see John having fun? I wouldnt believe it!!! Everyone should target that price, as it is much more obtainable, and coming soon. $1 still has a lot of hurdles. If we cant get their by Q1, might see a significant pullback after that report.
