Beshear, a Democrat, has served as Governor of Kentucky since December 2019. He previously served four years as Attorney General of Kentucky. In an Emerson College poll released June 27, 16% of Democratic voters say they would vote for Pete Buttigieg for President in 2028, 13% would vote for Kamala Harris and 12% would vote for Gavin Newsom. No one has officially entered the race yet.

Twenty-one percent of bettors favor California Governor Gavin Newsom, 16% favor New York State Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 7% favor former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Only 3% were betting on Harris – but that number quickly rose to 6% following her announcement today that she will not run for Governor of California.

Harris, at 24.6%, is favored as the 2028 Democratic Presidential nominee, followed by Newsom at 21% and Pete Buttigieg at 9.6%. The Polymarket website, with rankings based on how much money is bet on each potential candidate, now has Newsom at 36%, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 12%, Buttigieg at 6% and Harris at 5%. And every site favors current Vice President JD Vance to win the Presidency.
