Former President Donald Trump’s reaction Thursday to another powerful day of testimony before the House select committee investigating the US Capitol riot was to again demand the impossible: evidence of a rigged presidential election. "The only thing not discussed by the Unselects in any way, shape or form, is the irrefutable evidence of massive and totally pervasive ELECTION FRAUD & IRREGULARITIES which took place during the 2020 Presidential Election. They refuse to go there,” he posted. It wasn’t discussed because it never happened. Neither Trump nor his supporters have offered any evidence of a rigged election.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified yesterday that Trump was aware some of his supporters at a rally were carrying weapons. He wanted metal detectors removed so his armed supporters could join others in marching to the Capitol. He believed the rioters were not "doing anything wrong" in calling for Mike Pence to be hanged. Trump, very predictably, responded to Hutchinson's testimony by calling her a "total phony" and a "total bulls**t artist" and insisting he "hardly knew who she was."
