Many millions of Americans watched on television as Donald Trump ordered his blindly loyal supporters to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell" to "stop the steal." Hundreds of millions of people worldwide watched the deadly riot. We all saw the looting, the vandalism and the assaults on police officers. We all heard the chants of "Where's Pelosi?" and "Hang Mike Pence!" If the Department of Justice does its job, Trump will finally be indicted.

January 6 committee prepares final report, possible criminal referrals
Wall Street Journal, Nov 24 2022 8:00 AM ET

The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol is racing to finalize its long-awaited report, which it expects to release to the public in December, and make decisions about possible recommendations of criminal charges to the Justice Department. The report, based on more than 1,000 interviews, extensive videos of the attack and millions of documents, will be the final summation of the committee’s year-and-a-half investigation and could include a criminal referral to the Justice Department for former President Donald Trump and allies of his who aided his attempt to overturn the 2020 Presidential election result.

Trumpworld is the topsy-turvy land where bad is good, wrong is right, down is up – and Trump was being peaceful and patriotic when he ordered his blindly loyal supporters to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell." And the orange-skinned parrot is still squawking, "Witch hunt! Witch hunt! Awwrkkk!"

Rhodes' lawyer will appeal the conviction. Of course he will. He has to earn his money. Rhodes could get as much as 20 years in prison.

Jurors found all five Oath Keepers on trial guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding in the most serious January 6 case brought by the Justice Department so far.

Garland said the Department of Justice "will work tirelessly to hold accountable those responsible for crimes related to the attack on our democracy on January 6, 2021." When will the person who incited the attack be held accountable?

Renato Mariotti, Politico legal affairs columnist and a former federal prosecutor, says the Department of Justice could "charge Trump with incitement or making a false statement to the federal government or a scheme to defraud the United States in connection with the fake elector scheme" but notes that those crimes "turn on Trump’s intent or state of mind and are thus more difficult to prove." We all know what Trump's "state of mind" is. He's deranged, demented and delusional – and getting worse by the day.

One of Trump's sleazy lawyers insists Trump was using a "bully pulpit" to exercise the duties of his office. Lying about "widespread voter fraud" and a "rigged, stolen election" and inciting a deadly riot by ordering his blindly loyal supporters to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell" are definitely not Presidential duties

Members of Congress take an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and to "bear true faith and allegiance to the same." Prior to – and during – the deadly, Trump-incited Capitol riot, many Congressmen decided spreading Trump's baseless claims of "widespread voter fraud" and "a rigged, stolen election" was more important than fulfilling their Constitutional duty to certify the election of Joe Biden as President.

Ex-lawmakers request ethics probes into sitting members of Congress linked to January 6
The Hill, Dec 17 2022 10:25 AM ET

Thirty-six former House lawmakers are calling for ethics investigations into sitting members of Congress "who played a role" in the events on the day of and before the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, arguing that elected officials involved with the riot "must be held accountable.” In an open letter, the group – which includes former House members from both parties – is calling on sitting lawmakers in the lower chamber to "demand that the Office of Congressional Ethics thoroughly investigate" members linked to the Capitol riot.

Deranged, demented, delusional Donald today repeated his Big Lie that the 2020 Presidential election was "rigged and stolen" and he denounced the House Select Committee members as "political hacks" and "corrupt cowards who hate our country." Wow.

House January 6 committee recommends criminal charges against Trump
    Yahoo News, Dec 19 2022 11:17 AM

The House panel investigating the violent January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol urged the Justice Department today to seek criminal charges against former President Donald Trump for his extensive efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss. Lawmakers recommended charges on four counts stemming from Trump’s monthslong effort to stay in power after his election defeat: obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement and efforts to incite, assist or aid or comfort an insurrection.

The panel voted unanimously to send the criminal referrals to the Justice Department. The referrals, which mark the first time the House has recommended criminal charges against a former President, do not guarantee that Trump will be indicted but they do add to the evidence being weighed by the Justice Department and special counsel Jack Smith in its own investigation of Trump.
