Sometimes somebody you never would have expected turns out to be a dumb criminal. Witness:
To Catch A Predator host Chris Hansen arrested over bounced checks
NBC News, Jan 16 2019
Chris Hansen was arrested Monday in his hometown of Stamford, Connecticut. He turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a felony charge of issuing bad checks.
Hansen hosted NBC's Dateline series To Catch A Predator from 2004 to 2007. He also hosted spinoffs To Catch An ID Thief and To Catch A Con Man. In 2015, Hansen launched a kickstarter campaign to fund a new show, Hansen vs. Predator. In 2017, Hansen bought $13,000 worth of promotional items including hats, shirts and mugs from a local company. The items were offered as incentives for people to donate. Hansen paid for the merchandise with a check that bounced. In April 2018, he gave the business owner another check. That one bounced, too. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he refused to talk to police. Hansen has been released without bond and upon a written promise to appear in court.
