As I said before, the ignorance of Paul Volckers inflation policies and his place in the Democratic Party leads to a silly dismissal of a UNIVERSALLY WELL RESPECTED individual's comments on the NONSENSE being pushed here with regard to President Obama being a Marxist.
"Two items headed Kennedy's bill of particulars against Carter: The president's reluctance to enact national health care and his response to the rising unemployment and inflation ("stagflation" was the term du jour then) of the late 1970s. Despite the assurances that Carter had given him on pursuing a health-care bill, and despite huge Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, Kennedy watched in dismay as Carter declined to move on the issue. Kennedy was even more upset as Carter responded to rising inflation by cutting federal employment programs and installing a Federal Reserve chief (Paul Volcker) whose strategy for reducing inflation was to increase unemployment. These were policies that no Democratic president since Grover Cleveland had enacted, and as Kennedy saw it, those policies broke the Democrats' covenant with working Americans that ran back not only to Franklin Delano Roosevelt but to Jefferson and Jackson as well."
And Paul Volckers comment that began all this:
Asked whether he agrees with accusations that the president is waging class warfare by pushing for Wall Street reforms and higher taxes for the rich, Volcker said, "I don't understand the depth of that feeling. I really don't. This business that he's a great socialist and out to undermine the free enterprise system and so forth, I just think it has no connection with reality."
"NO CONNECTION WITH REALITY". I couldnt agree more.

Incredible ignorance by an individual who sees Marxism behind every door. Wacko.
Has anyone here seen a post of Republican crticisms of how Mr. Volcker tamed inflation? Didnt think so. He is a "universally well respected" authority on financial matters.
I am waiting for those crazies (Mr. Schiff, SeriouslyWrong etc.) to post next that Paul Volcker is himself a Marxist.
That's 1962 when Paul Volcker starts his national service at the Treasury Department. In
'63, he's deputy undersecretary of Treasury in the Nixon administration. He's undersecretary of
international -- treasury for international monetary affairs, 1975. Then president of the New York -
- the chair of the New York Fed in 1979. Chairman of the U.S. Fed until 1987.
Five presidents in a row, Reagan, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Carter, and Reagan. A 20-year
hiatus, largely of teaching and some finance work and then the return to the national spotlight in
2008.

I got a big kick out of this. Remember SeriouslyWrong's favorite politician is Mr.Ron Paul.
Also remember that Mr.Paul would like to end the Federal Reserve.
"Congressman Ron Paul, well known as a harsh critic of the Federal Reserve, has offered qualified praise of Volcker:
Being in Congress in the late 1970s and early 1980s and serving on the House Banking Committee, I met and got to question several Federal Reserve chairmen: Arthur Burns, G. William Miller and Paul Volcker. Of the three, I had the most interaction with Volcker. He was more personable and smarter than the others, including the more recent board chairmen Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke.[15]
Congressman Ron Paul also said in a 2011 presidential debate that "If I had to name a Federal Reserve chairman that did a little bit of good, that would be Paul Volcker.""

Clearly SeriouslyWrong is a partisan who refuses to acknowledge that Paul Volcker is a well respected individual whose opinion is valued by both Democrats and Republicans (hence his service to 5 different administrations).
Who would you rather talk to and listen to about economics and financial matters, Paul Volcker or Peter Schiff? Clearly the former.
Im still waiting for SeriouslyWrong to call Mr.Volcker a Marxist, or at the very least a Marxist sympathizer based on his comments about President Obama. His comments in this thread
and others are SHOCKINGLY IGNORANT. No other way to describe them.

Anyone who calls our President "Our Marxist wizard of Oz", and who claims Paul Volcker is PURELY a partisan is an ignorant fool. The logic that follows from this statement is that Mr. Volcker is either a Marxist himself or a Marxist sympathizer and or defender. INSANELY IGNORANT and STUPID.

If someone says President Obama is a Marxist, and Paul Volcker defends the President and says that he "thinks that has no connection to reality", then it therefore follows that that person either thinks Paul Volcker is a Marxist or a Marxist sympathizer or defender. Its called logic. Obviously Paul Volcker is a man of great integrity and knowledge (knows the difference between Marxism and Capitalism) and is obviously not a partisan hack (unlike some others here).
This person is obviously unaware of the trap he fell into.
P.S. I understand that a man who praises Mr. Peter Schiff and his economic knowledge and predictions is not exactly a man who values logic. Unbelieveable.
