what I find most surprising today is that it looks as if the SEC made a move on them...its like the manipulation just stopped. usually they ignore the sell side and fill bids. today they are actually buying at a higher price. this has not happened in a very long time
[
Items of Note:
- 500K customers were on a tiered offering at YE2008, the vast majority of which are paying a higher price than the standard $12.99, leading to increased ARPU. Bank believes that management’s confidence in attaining adjusted EBITDA of $300mm+ in FY2009 implies continued improvement in ARPU from customer conversion to higher priced packages, and realization of cost synergies.
- RBC expects 388,000 net subscriber additions in FY2009 (vs. prior 1,500K estimate)
- RBC expects revenue of $2.6bn (vs. prior $2.7bn), with their FY2009 adjusted EBITDA estimate unchanged at $303mm.
This is a fair analytical report I think, but remember the 500k Best of buy in increased ARPU for 08,and if 1Mil took co. up on it in 1q 09 like myself it will be like adding 2mil or better netv sub rev...for year 09.(conservative)
Mel is getting cash from current subs to ride out bad year or 2 till auto industry imoproves...Smart
True, but ISEG is still taking advantage of lulls, to be the first always to throw up a lower ask. They should be the focus now. Need about 1000 calls to them asking why they hate their customers.
I dont think its the SEC, its the insitutional buyers dicating terms now. They are in now, and want it higher.
Because weve all seen 50 million shares traded and have it be mostly buys, and not move more than .01 cent in the past. So yes, this stock is trading differently. Definately.!!!!
l really need to follow sirius canada more often. Does everyone but me know about the Live Nation deal up there? Could this be a prelude for things to come here?
"SIRIUS listeners are passionate about music and the Live Nation partnership will give subscribers more of what they love, including exclusive concert broadcasts and preferred access to concert tickets," said Alan MacNevin, Vice President of Customer Relationship Management at SIRIUS Canada. "Customers tell us that subscribing to SIRIUS feels like being part of a community and we're committed to making that experience even richer."
The partnership will allow SIRIUS listeners across Canada and the U.S. to access exclusive live broadcasts featuring some of Canada's most talented emerging and established artists. The monthly "SIRIUS Satellite Radio Canadian Concert Series Powered by Live Nation" broadcasts will give Canadian artists a powerful platform to reach new audiences in both Canada and the U.S. on Iceberg 85, SIRIUS Satellite Radio's 100% Canadian rock channel.

Reuters - Pioneer Corp (6773.T) is in talks with Mitsubishi Electric Corp (6503.T), Alpine Electronics Inc (6816.T) and Clarion Co Ltd (6796.T) on a possible tie-up in car navigation and other auto equipment operations, the Nikkei business daily reported on Sunday.

I'm thinking open-access?
It could have been a combination of things - the good news - maybe the SEC finally woke up from their drug induced coma...
I filed 5 formal complaints with the SEC last week based on the manipulation. I sent them screen shots and I know several others - to include Sky over in the yahoo boards was working toward the same goal. It would be great to get confirmation that effort contributed to today's achieved increase. Either way - I was laughing hysterically when the short panic was underway....
The temptation to sell is growing the longer it sits below .25. The level II buy orders look weak compared to the 1 million+ sells sitting at .25. Really hard decision here for me. Profit is a wonderful thing, and I can secure thousands right now by clicking my little button. I know the upside but Im wondering how the dismal q1 numbers will effect the pps and if the high teens will ever been seen again.
Maybe I should just smash my keyboard into little bits, walk away and check back in 10 years.
Nice find. Interesting. Lot of information to go over today. A few more puzzle pieces will come in within 2 months now. Getting very exciting. July looks to be the launch area from Iphone. Expect Q1 report or sooner to have DirectTV tie in announcement. Should be no huge delay with this. Malone will want to capture momentum, and keep it positive till terrible Q1 comes out.
maybe i was good luck asking for .25 this week.... so i think ill ask if u think we can get to .29 for more good luck haha
I think it is assumed that Q1 will be awful. If auto sales however begin to pick up , it will more than offset any negatives in Q1. I was at home depot this weekend, and could find ZERO parking...Spring fever brings with it a renewed spirit. Any positive oem data will be looked upon as beneficial to siri...
i heard on fox news car sales are up alread yesterda, dont know how valid that is but supposedly because of the tax breaks for buying a car buying has picked up.
Don't kid yourself. Net subs will probably decrease on the economy and auto sales.
We already KNOW (as in FACT) that auto sales will have resulted in very few new subs. We can assume retail will again be a net negative as well. The current churn rate all but guarantees a net loss in subs in Q1. Having said that, the street knows this already...
brandon car sales will get better, its already happening, you will see the sub groth starting to return in q2
I meant a negative sub decline, probably in the 100k range, which is remarkable in this economy that Sirius's bottom line will grow at high percentage..
in 1Q.
I find this piece of the Fortune article interesting:
"Asked about Maffei's musings, Karmazin doesn't want to be pinned down. "We could also have 130 more audio channels," Karmazin says. "We could go to Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500) and say, 'Hey, Wal-Mart, how would you like to have a channel that's just for you?' We could say, 'Hey, Mormon Church. How would you like to have a channel?'"
Does anyone think they are currently working on something with Wal-Mart behind the scenes or am I reading too much into this?

What would it take to get you into a brand new car? That's the question federal and state governments have been asking since the downturn of the auto industry. Now, the Michigan Senate thinks it has the answer.
"It's great news," Ralph Shaheen said. "It's actually a bill that will affect the consumer directly."
Ralph Shaheen of Shaheen Chevrolet has been following the bill closely for obvious reasons.
"It should stimulate car sales," Shaheen said.
So, how would it work? Currently if you buy a new car in the state, you pay six percent sales tax, but under the Senate's plan passed Thursday, if you bring a trade-in with you, you'll get a break on the new car's sales tax.
"So your not paying double sales tax, your trading in something of value that you already paid sales tax on," Shaheen said.
Co-sponsors of Senate bill 0201 said this is different than other attempts to boost new car sales because this incentive, they said, is immediate and puts money in your pocket right away.
"People are on a budget, we all are," Shaheen said. "It does make a difference, it allows people to buy more vehicle and pay less monthly."
Used cars have outsold new ones for months now, and Shaheen hopes this might be enough of an incentive to change gears.
"I think it would help new car sales, if it evens the playing field or not I don't have a crystal ball for that," he said.
The future of the industry and the bill are still uncertain, the legislation now heads to the Michigan House.
A non-partisan fiscal analysis shows this bill wouldn't lead to any meaningful boost in new car sales.
The "Michigan Automobile Dealers Association" disagrees -- saying it could be exactly the incentive needed to get customers back to the showrooms.
