Sirius XM’s American Soldier Weekend
Every so often, the stars align just right and everything in that moment is perfect. Today was one of those days, at least from my perspective. I happen to be a fan of Queensryche. The band has a new album coming out soon titled “American Soldier” and I have tickets to see them in May. It goes without saying that I was pleased to hear that band members will take over Sirius XM’s Hair Nation this weekend from Friday to Monday.
Sirius XM is doing something extraordinary with this event that deserves not only a mention but a loud applause from consumers and investors alike! From Sirius XM’s website:
“For those who serve and for those who rock, Hair Nation’s got your back! Every good soldier deserves a rockin’ soundtrack and during Hair Nation’s American Soldier weekend we’re handing over our programming to the soldiers, their families and their friends. So if you know a soldier and want to play their favorite ’80s or ’90s hard rock song, email us now ([email protected]), and every request that makes it on air will be emailed to you (as an mp3), just in case you want to send it to the dedicated soldier. In addition, every hour Hair Nation will have Geoff Tate and Scott Rockenfield from Queensryche introduce and play songs off their new release American Soldier (out in stores March 31st and the inspiration behind this specialty weekend), plus songs from the awesome Queensryche catalog. Sirius XM gives our soldiers the music they need to protect the country they love, and for that we salute you! ”
Soldiers around the world will be able to connect to one another, their families and friends while we, who owe our freedom to these brave men and women get to bear witness to this truly global event. This weekend will mark an incredible beginning to the future of Sirius XM Radio.

Very nice article
Great job Sirius and Queensryche. I’ve been a fan of Queensryche since “The Lady Wore Black”. I’ll be listening all weekend.
I think I can speak for a few of us when I thank Sirius XM for this event. When you’ve been in the sand for a year or so with no good contact to home – every little thing makes a big difference… and good music can tip the scales when you’re feeling the 6-month blues……
Thanks again
Sirius XM your the best! Thinking about the well-being of others while most businesses are focused only on their own profits. I suppose that Sirius XM’s fight to the top is somewhat symbolic of our soldiers fight for freedom. Despite the odds against you, good will prevail. We support our troops! and we support Sirius XM. Good article Brandon.
Rick, and all service men and women
Thank you for your service and sacrifice, from the bottom of mt heart!!!! What ya’ll do for the rest of us, IMHO is taken for granted! I hope this effort by SiriusXM gets all kinds of national exposure! Ya’ll deserve it!!!!!
Brandon- Thanks for bringing this to our attention!!
We all need to really think hard how lucky we are to live in this country and be safe in our own homes while all this kids battle for their lives and risk their life and limbs to make our country safe for us.
They are such heroes. When I think about it, I could not do what they do for us. I don’t think I have enough courage to always have my life on the line.
Anything to make them feel closer to home and put a little smile on their faces.
Good job Sirius and Brandon for the article.
SXM
Very well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Courage…I think that I played the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz as a kid.lol
Rick & the rest of our Soldiers, THANKS! I can not understand for the life of me why any soldier that has been involved in a military conflict does not get free health care for life at any hosp. of their choosing. How can a congressman serve 3/ 2 year terms and be set with a pension & full benefites for life? Our values are skewed! What larger risk and sacrafice can you make for your country than being a soldier involved in a conflict. They more than any politician should be moved to the front of the line for pension & benefits. Brandon, nice article.
I just got out of the military after 8 year. It takes a lot out of you even when you aren’t deployed. Just all the stress knowing that you maybe gone for 6-12 month at any moment. I was only deployed once but the abilty to share anything with the one you love back home is something you cherish. My hat goes off to everyone who serves this country and to Siriusxm for recognizing them.

Over the last few tumultuous years, things have become very political….
