    The 2028 Presidential race

In 2016, J.D. Vance called Donald Trump "reprehensible," "an idiot" and "America's Hitler." In 2024, he became Trump's running mate. From January 2025 to January 2029, Vance – an isolationist, conspiracy-theory-spreading anti-vaxxer who recently referred to women without children as "childless cat ladies" – will be Vice President of the United States. He is already favored to win the Presidency in 2028. California Governor Gavin Newsom, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are likely to seek their party's nomination.

Political commentator Ben Shapiro – no relation to Josh – said "nobody is talking about Harris running in 2028." He predicts Kamala Harris will quit politics and return to private life.

Newsom's term ends in 2026. Harris might run for Governor of California. She also might run for President again.

Twenty-nine countries have a female President, Prime Minister or head of state: Mexico, Denmark, Greece, Honduras, Dominica, Iceland, Italy, India, Peru, New Zealand, Samoa, Latvia, Togo, Tanzania, Thailand, Georgia, Namibia, Malta, Uganda, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Barbados, Moldava, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzogovina, Trinidad & Tobago, the Marshall Islands and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the United States of America, the so-called "glass ceiling" may never be broken.

What Kamala Harris' loss means for future female Presidential candidates
The election result marks the second time a Democratic woman has lost to Donald Trump.

Vice-President JD Vance is likely to be the Retrumplicans' nominee for President in 2028. Several betting sites have Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro favored to win the Democratic nomination. California Governor Gavin Newsom ranks second and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer ranks third. An aide to former Vice-President Kamala Harris told NPR this week that Harris has not ruled out another bid for President but will have to make a decision by this summer so she can begin the work of fundraising and campaigning. In an opinion piece for The Hill, Gary D. Alexander and Rick Cunningham explain why Democrats could win in 2028. Part of the reason is that with Donald Trump ineligible to run again, millions of MAGA Retrumplicans might not bother to vote.

It took Donald Trump only a few weeks in 2015 to gain complete control of the Republican party and turn it into a cult, The Cult of Donald Trump. He has an iron grip on the Retrumplican party and most Retrumplicans blindly worship him as though he's a god. It is highly unlikely that they will choose a Presidential nominee who doesn't hold the same anti-Black, anti-Muslim, anti-Hispanic, anti-Mexican, anti-women, anti-gay, anti-lesbian, anti-abortion, anti-vaccine, anti-labor and anti-middle-class beliefs as Donald Trump.

Nastiness and name-calling – and, according to a friend, he's lying. Like father, like son.

Donald Trump Jr. denies Presidential run rumors In expletive-filled statement
The President's oldest son responded to a request for comment on the rumor with a statement that used multiple four-letter words and a slur before ending with "Congrats, moron."

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in February 1951, states, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice" – but King Donald does not care about the Constitution. At an August 2020 rally in Wisconsin, Trump bragged, "We're going to win four more years. And then after that, we’ll go for another four years." At a January 2025 rally in Las Vegas, Trump bragged, "It will be the greatest honor of my life to serve not once but twice – or three or four times." In that same month, Tennessee Representative Andrew Ogles, a Retrumplican, proposed amending the Constitution to allow a President to serve three terms.

Ezra Klein, a podcaster and New York Times columnist, said this week, "In the 20 years I’ve been covering politics, I have never heard Democrats so confused about who they are – aside from their opposition to Donald Trump – as well as how and why they lost in 2024. Democrats are losing working-class voters. They’re seeing their margins among non-white voters erode and vanish. They’re losing young voters. Something is wrong in the Democratic Party." Here is proof that Democrats haven't learned anything: In a new poll of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, 36% want Kamala Harris to be the 2028 nominee.
