    The 2028 Presidential race

In 2016, J.D. Vance called Donald Trump "reprehensible," "an idiot" and "America's Hitler." In 2024, he became Trump's running mate. From January 2025 to January 2029, Vance – an isolationist, conspiracy-theory-spreading anti-vaxxer who recently referred to women without children as "childless cat ladies" – will be Vice President of the United States. He is already favored to win the Presidency in 2028. California Governor Gavin Newsom, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are likely to seek their party's nomination.

Political commentator Ben Shapiro – no relation to Josh – said "nobody is talking about Harris running in 2028." He predicts Kamala Harris will quit politics and return to private life.

Newsom's term ends in 2026. Harris might run for Governor of California. She also might run for President again.

Twenty-nine countries have a female President, Prime Minister or head of state: Mexico, Denmark, Greece, Honduras, Dominica, Iceland, Italy, India, Peru, New Zealand, Samoa, Latvia, Togo, Tanzania, Thailand, Georgia, Namibia, Malta, Uganda, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Barbados, Moldava, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzogovina, Trinidad & Tobago, the Marshall Islands and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the United States of America, the so-called "glass ceiling" may never be broken.

What Kamala Harris' loss means for future female Presidential candidates
The election result marks the second time a Democratic woman has lost to Donald Trump.
