Will We Ever Hear the Turtles on Sirius/XM?

The Turtles and their '60s music have never been on Sirius/XM to the best of my knowledge. Why? The law suit of course or at least that's my opinion. After all these years it does seem petty now. Apparently, "Happy Together" isn't working still!

Twiz, the answer to your question is most likely "No." SiriusXM's 1960s channel used to play all nine of the Turtles' top-30 hits – until 2013, when the Turtles filed a class-action suit against SiriusXM for playing copyrighted pre-1972 songs without permission. (In case you're wondering, the Turtles have not any chart hits since 1970.) The case was settled in 2016 with SiriusXM paying $25 million and agreeing to a ten-year license allowing the playing of pre-1972 recordings at a 5.5% royalty rate. In 2018, Congress passed the Music Modernization Act, which updated copyright laws:

Since 2013 when the lawsuit was filed, SiriusXM has not played any Turtles records. That means the Turtles' royalty payments from SiriusXM are zero. Poor babies!

When they do a countdown show and one of the top 40 songs is by the Turtles, the DJ will say what it is but he will not play it.
