    Sirius Sportster Acquiring Signal

    Sirius Sportster Acquiring Signal

    Hi
    I have Sirius Sportster Boombox
    and the radio will sometimes say acquiring Signal
    Sometimes it will work & get a signal & sometimes there will be no sound but the artist & song will still be displayed

    I've read that it could be the solder joints on the board but i looked at it & they are pretty small to work on.

    I was wondering if the metal box (circled in red) can be switched to another unit with so i can keep my lifetime sub.
    let me know thanks. 20230405_003521.jpg8ddda03131964c2cc1f96a576cfc5512.jpeg

    I have no idea if the metal box can be switched but, you should be able to switch that lifetime sub to a new unit, especially if your current hardware is failing. You just have to call and request a transfer.

    Cradle's antenna connection is probably shot, do you use the lockdown switch in the back? You should....
    The silver can has the Esn , you can switch the front board if the buttons dont work. P.s. I did this and that works.
    Also to keep it cool drill many tiny holes in the metal lid after unscrewing it and definatetly put it back when done to keep it cool.

    The Sportster radio is an antique. I recommend swapping it out with an Onyx Plus radio. You will be able to receive more channels, and it displays album art. They also offer a boom box for it that sounds great. I believe SiriusXM charges $35 to replace a lifetime subscription radio.
