    The Hostess brand was introduced in 1921 by Taggart Baking Company in Indianapolis. Hostess was owned by Interstate Bakeries Corporation from 1930 until November 2012 when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Apollo Global Management and C. Dean Metropoulos & Company acquired the Hostess name and assets in 2013. Hostess Brands makes Twinkies, HoHos, Zingers, Sno Balls, CupCakes, Donettes and Ding Dongs and owns Dolly Madison and Voortmans Cookies. Shares of Hostess closed today at 33.49, a gain of 5.38 (19.14%).

    William Keith Kellogg founded the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906 in Battle Creek, Michigan. The cereal manufacturer was renamed Kellogg Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1909 and became the Kellogg Company in 1922. Among the company's many brands are Eggo, Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts and Morningstar Farms. Shares of Kellogg closed today at 59.85, a gain of 0.43 (0.72%).

    Kellogg Company is splitting into two independently traded companies, spinning off their global snacking business into Kellanova and North American cereal brand into WK Kellogg Co. The company unveiled the new names in March 2023. Today the company's board of directors approved the plan to separate. The separation is effective October 2. While the new companies will have different logos, they will still maintain the recognizable red color text with iconic "K."

    Sebastian Sering Kresge opened the first S.S. Kresge five-and-dime store in 1899 in Memphis. At the time of his death in 1966 at age 99, there were 930 Kresge stores in the United States and Canada. In 1962 the company opened the first Kmart in Garden City. Michigan. Kmart, at its peak in 1994, operated 2,486 stores. The last remaining Kresge store (in Hamilton, Ontario) closed in 1994. In 2023, there are only eight Kmarts still in business – and one of those will close at the end of this month.
