    To prevent shoplifting, many stores are keeping cosmetics, cameras, cellphones, electric shavers, video games and other products in locked glass cases – but honest shoppers are not happy about having to find an employee with a key so they can get what they want. Joe Budano, CEO of security device manufacturer Indyme, says putting products under lock and key should be "a solution of last resort." He cites data showing a 15 to 25% drop in sales for locked-up items.

    Last month when Amazon began laying off employees, CEO Andy Jassy said job cuts would continue into early 2023. Well, at least he was honest.

    Roku was founded in 2002. The name means "six" in Japanese. It was the sixth company started by British-born billionaire Anthony Wood. Roku created the world's first internet-enabled operating system for televisions and in 2008 introduced a streaming media player. The company will now manufacture Roku-branded televisions and voice-controlled remotes.

    Bed Bath & Beyond, originally Bed 'n Bath, was founded in 1971 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Five years ago there were 1,350 Bed Bath & Beyond stores in the US and Canada. Now there are 771. (The company also owns Buy Buy Baby, One Kings Lane and Harmon Face Values.) Shares of Bed Bath & Beyond today closed at an all-time low of 1.69, a drop of 0.72 (30.05%).

    Amazon Prime membership costs 14.99 per month or $139 per year and includes free shipping for Amazon purchases. It will now include free shipping for purchases made on other websites – but how will Amazon benefit? Perhaps they're expecting more people will become Amazon Prime members.
