Quite pleased with Symphony Hall after 3 days.

A new subscriber here. I got pretty fed up with the local NPR-affiliated classical station (the announcers and the selections), so I subscribed to SiriusXM. So far I'm very impressed: they play no "piece art," just complete works. And the programming is good. This afternoon, Saturday, for example they played Bach's 2nd Partita for solo violin and then went straight to a late Beethoven quartet (#14) that I don't think I've ever heard before. I hope it stays this good. Are there other musicians who come here for the "good stuff"?

Well, no replies. I just heard the worst performance of the Brahms double concerto that I have ever heard; Bruno Walter, the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Pierre Fornier and Zeno Francescatti. It sounded like they and the orchestra were stepping on each other at every turn and nearly falling apart in the final movement. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Unfortunately, I love this concerto. Poor Brahms. Too bad!
