A Trump-appointed judge granted Trump's demand for a "special master" to review all the classified, top-secret documents that Trump illegally took to Mar-a-Lago – but that same judge has denied Trump's request that American taxpayers pay half of the special master's fee. Good for her! And shame on supposedly-wealthy Trump for wanting to stick taxpayers with the bill!

"Look, I declassified all those top-secret documents, okay? Just take my word for it, okay?" Gee, nobody took Trump's word for it. What a surprise!

Trump documents probe: Court lifts hold on Mar-a-Lago records
The Associated Press, Sep 21 2022 6:06 PM

In a stark repudiation of Donald Trump's legal arguments, a a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit today permitted the Justice Department to resume its use of classified records seized from the former President's Florida estate as part of its ongoing criminal investigation. The ruling amounts to an overwhelming victory for the Justice Department, clearing the way for investigators to continue scrutinizing the documents as they consider whether to bring criminal charges over the storage of top-secret records at Mar-a-Lago after Trump left the White House. In lifting a hold on a core aspect of the department's probe, the court removed an obstacle that could have delayed the investigation by weeks, if not months.

The appeals court also pointedly noted that Trump had presented no evidence that he had declassified the sensitive records, as he has repeatedly maintained

Deranged, demented, delusional Donald continues to insist he declassified top-secret documents even though he did not go through the proper procedures or fill out the proper paperwork. He now sees himself as a superhero with the power to declassify documents just by thinking the thought! Wooh!

Judge Aileen Cannon is unashamedly right-wing and pro-Trump. If – God forbid – Donald Trump should win another term as President, he will likely nominate her for a spot on the Supreme Court. She can join all the other right-wing, pro-Trump Justices that Trump stacked the Court with.

Experts slam Judge Cannon's latest pro-Trump ruling: ‘Hilarious, corrupt, shameless, and obvious’
    Raw Story, Sep 29 2022

Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon generated controversy again today after ruling for Donald Trump's lawyers on a case management plan for Special Master Raymond Dearie. Dearie had given Trump a September 30 deadline to attest to what was seized at Mar-a-Lago but Cannon overruled the special master she appointed and said the former President would first have a chance to review the seized documents, which may include 200,000 pages. That wasn't the only way she delayed the case. She set a new deadline of October 5 to finalize a document review vendor, a step Dearie had hoped would have taken only one or two days.

Legal experts were once again stunned by Judge Cannon. National security reporter Marcy Wheeler wrote, "Holy hell, this woman has no shame. Cannon is basically jumping up and down on a scale that her Special Master is supposed to still own. It is hilarious, corrupt, shameless and obvious." "She is such a disgrace," wrote former Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissmann. Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti wrote, "This is a minor win for Trump’s team because now they don’t have to essentially disavow their dubious claims that the FBI planted evidence. But this doesn’t change the difficult position Trump is in. He still has to take a position regarding every seized document."

Donald Trump keeps his taxes and his financial records secret and hidden. He keeps his net worth secret and hidden. He keeps his foreign entanglements secret and hidden. He keeps confidential documents secret and hidden. And yet he bragged that he was "the most transparent President" in United States history. Wow.

Whenever Donald Trump is facing an investigation or a lawsuit, he never admits to any wrongdoing and he always resorts to his usual tactics: delay, deflect and divert.

Trump asks to push special master appeal hearing to January
    Bloomberg, Oct 3 2022

Former President Donald Trump wants to slow down the government’s appeal case over the appointment of a so-called special master to review thousands of documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate. Trump’s lawyers today urged the federal appeals court in Atlanta to deny the Justice Department’s request to expedite the case, arguing Trump’s team is already crunched for time dealing with the special master review and district court action. That includes going over the 11,000 documents to determine if they’re protected by attorney-client or executive privilege and litigating any fights over those claims. Oral arguments shouldn’t take place until January at the earliest, Trump attorney Christopher Kise said in the filing.

The Justice Department proposed wrapping up briefing by November 11 and asked the court to set a date for arguments shortly after that. It argued that continuing to block investigators from using the seized materials goes against the public interest by delaying a crucial criminal and national security probe into whether Trump mishandled classified documents.

The Department of Justice is reviewing more than 100 classified documents that were among the 11,000 documents which Donald Trump stored at Mar-a-Lago instead of fulfilling his Presidential duty and turning them over to the National Archives. Trump would prefer the documents be analyzed by the "special master" in the case. Trump stacked the Supreme Court with right-wing, pro-Trump Justices and he is hoping they will agree with him. CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig says Trump's latest action is nothing more than "part of his delay strategy." He wants to do everything he can to slow down the DOJ's investigation of him.

Donald Trump continues to believe – just as he did when he was in office – that the Supreme Court and the Department of Justice exist solely to serve him and to do his bidding. Donald Trump cares only about Donald Trump, no one else.
