In the state that already had the nation's most-restrictive voting regulations, Retrumplicans finally succeeded in making voting even more difficult. If you're black, Latino, elderly, handicapped or a Democrat, Texas does not want you to vote.

Texas recently passed the most restrictive anti-abortion law in the nation. Texas recently passed legislation allowing anyone 21 or older to carry a gun in public without a permit. Texas recently passed new voting restrictions which will make it much harder for minorities, the elderly and the handicapped to cast a ballot. In Texas, you have no rights if you're a woman. You have no rights if you're a minority. But if you're a gun owner, well.......

Civil rights groups sue Texas over law restricting voting rights
Voting rights advocates have slammed the legislation signed by Governor Greg Abbott as "undemocratic" and a "dangerous voter suppression bill."

This new version of the For The People Act will not pass the Senate unless at least ten Retrumplicans vote in favor of it – and that will never happen. Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make voting much more difficult for minorities, Native Americans, the handicapped and the elderly. They believe in so-called "voting rights" – but only for their fellow Retrumplicans.

Senate Democrats close to agreement on voting rights compromise
The bill is being crafted by Senator Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia), who opposed the original bill, and a group of Democrats.

The plaintiff's attorney said "the state’s Republican-controlled legislature undeniably implemented this legislation to maintain its power by targeting voters of color." Gee, Retrumplicans want to make it much harder for minorities to vote. What a shocker!

The law "was motivated at least in part by an unconstitutional intent to target African American voters," the judges ruled in a 100-page majority opinion.

Retrumplicans in 19 states – so far – have passed legislation making voting much more difficult for blacks, Latinos, Asians and Native Americans. Retrumplicans believe Donald Trump's Big Lie that the 2020 Presidential election was "rigged" and "stolen" and they're doing everything they can to ensure that upcoming elections can be rigged and stolen by Retrumplicans. They're even trying to give themselves the power to nullify elections if they don't like the outcome. Calling Georgia "the epicenter of a battle for the soul of democracy," HuffPost political reporter Travis Waldron looks at how the state's Retrumplicans are attacking "legitimate elections" and democracy itself.

Georgia is how American democracy falls apart
Through a bevy of bills and rule changes, Georgia Republicans are trying to codify the essential goal of the January 6 riots: a rigged system in which Democrats can’t win elections.

Democrats favor legislation making it easier for all American adults to vote. Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make voting much more dfifficult for blacks, Asians, Native Americans, the elderly and the handicapped. And of course Retrumplicans continue to push The Big Lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 Presidential election "in a landslide" but the victory was "stolen" from him. They are totally opposed to voting rights for anyone who is not a Retrumplican.

Voting rights legislation filibustered by Republicans for a third time
    HuffPost, Oct 20 2021 3:18 PM

For the third time this year, Senate Republicans filibustered voting rights legislation meant to override new voting restrictions in Republican-run states that affirm former President Donald Trump’s lies about election fraud. The party-line vote blocking debate on the Freedom To Vote Act came after months of negotiations among Democrats to craft a compromise voting rights bill that West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin claimed could get Republican support. But Manchin failed to convince a single Republican to support the bill, let alone allow the Senate to debate the bill.

“Let there be no mistake: Senate Republicans blocking debate today is an implicit endorsement of the horrid new voter suppression and election subversion laws pushed in Republican states across the country,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the floor after the vote. It is now up to the 50 members of the Senate Democratic caucus to decide whether or not to change the Senate’s filibuster rules to provide a path forward on what Democratic leadership has called must-pass voting rights legislation.

In 2018, North Carolina's Retrumplicans legislature managed to get a proposed Constitutional amendment on the ballot. It would require all voters to have a photo ID. The ballot measure passed. The NAACP filed a lawsuit alleging racial bias because the "Voter ID Law" discriminates against black voters. In February 2019, a judge ruled that the amendment is invalid. In September 2021, two Superior Court judges agreed, declaring the law to be "motivated at least in part by an unconstitutional intent to target African American voters." Retrumplicans refuse to give up. They are taking the dispute to the Supreme Court. Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make it much more difficult for blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, the elderly and the handicapped to cast a ballot.

The "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans in Wisconsin and Michigan are seeking to make voting much more difficult for minorities, the handicapped and the elderly – and they're trying to find "the best path" around the states' Democratic Governors.

In September, civil rights groups sued Texas over new legislation making it much harder much harder for minorities, the elderly and the handicapped to cast a ballot. They called the law signed by Governor Greg Abbott "undemocratic" and a "dangerous voter suppression bill." Texas Retrumplicans also came up with a redistricting plan that dilutes the voting power of blacks and Latinos and favors Retrumplicans. The Department of Justice is suing Texas because the redistricting violates the Voting Rights Act. We all know Retrumplicans do not believe in "voting rights" for anyone other than Retrumplicans.
