Retrumplicans insisted there was widespread voter fraud and ballot tampering in every state and every county where Joe Biden won in 2020 – but Retrumplicans made no such accusations in the states and counties won by Trump. How about that! The win-at-all-costs Retrumplicans are now doing everything they can to make it harder for minorities and the elderly to cast a ballot.

Eight months after the 2020 Presidential election – the most fair and secure election in Unitred States history – Retrumplicans still refuse to accept that they lost.

As the phony "audit" of Maricopa County's ballots drags on and on, KPHO-Channel 5 reports that audit managers have repeatedly ignored complaints about sexual harassment. In written statements, several women have accused one of the auditors of touching them, demanding dates and making sexual comments. The Cyber Ninjas company conducting the "audit" is run by Doug Logan, who promotes Donald Trump's Big Lie about a rigged, stolen election. Qualified election officials say large numbers of the unsecured ballots may already have been altered or trashed and are now completely unreliable – and manipulation of voting machines has rendered them unusable for future elections. The Retrumplicans who continue to challenge election results and seek to overturn them and enact legislation making it more difficult to vote need to read the Post-Dispatch editorial – but of course they won't. The anti-democracy, win-at-all-costs Retrumplicans have no shame.

St. Louis newspaper bashes GOP, Josh Hawley for 'contempt' of democracy
    HuffPost, Jul 4 2021 1:26 AM ET

In honor of the Fourth of July, a leading Missouri newspaper went after the enemies of American democracy – namely, many Republican lawmakers, led by the state’s very own GOP Senator Josh Hawley. "Americans of all political stripes should be able to agree that elections must be accessible and fair, that the legitimacy of those elections must be respected regardless of outcome, and that violence is never an acceptable response from citizens who don’t like a particular election result,” noted an editorial in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Yet "a majority of Republicans still claim to believe the corrosive lie that Joe Biden is an illegitimate President. an inherently un-American mindset,” the paper’s editors wrote. “Political polarization today is so deep and toxic that many have become convinced that any electoral win by the other side is intrinsically illegitimate and should be opposed by any tactics necessary, including tactics outside the Constitution.”

Now the “lasting danger” of the violent storming of the Capitol on January 6 is the “contempt for electoral democracy that the episode has exposed on America’s political right,” the editorial warned. That contempt was exposed by the 147 Republicans in Congress, “led by Missouri’s own Senator Josh Hawley,” who, having “just witnessed first-hand the violence that Trump’s big vote-fraud lie had visited upon the seat of government, further promoted that lie, voting to overturn a valid election based on nothing but their supporters’ disdain for the outcome.”

Hawley, notably, was photographed flashing a raised fist to encourage people at the Capitol on January 6 before the day’s violence began in earnest. The contempt for democracy was also exposed in Republicans’ failure to “hold Trump accountable for what was arguably the most impeachable thing any sitting president has ever done” and by GOP lawmakers blocking an investigation into the January 6 violence, the Post-Dispatch editorial pointed out. “Plenty of words come to mind to describe these actions by one of America’s two major political parties,” the paper’s editors wrote. "‘Patriotic’ is nowhere among them. Americans should remember there is just one legitimate means of change in a democracy: free and fair elections. Protecting that institution is patriotic. Undermining it isn’t – ever.”

On May 30, Democrats walked out of a session of the Texas House of Representatives, thwarting the attempt of the "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans to pass new voting restrictions. Governor Abbott, who believes Trump's Big Lie that there was "widespread voter fraud" in 2020, vowed to reintroduce the legislation. Well, he has done so. Abbott insists the voting restrictions are necessary to ensure "election integrity." We already have election integrity. The 2020 Presidential election was the most free, fair election in our nation's history. Abbott just wants to make casting a ballot more difficult for minorities – who tend to vote Democratic.

Retrumplicans should be coming up with plans, programs and policies that will gain them votes. Unfortunately, they're not doing that. Instead, they're passing legislation which will make it much more difficult for minorities (who tend to vote Democratic) and the elderly (who tend to vote Democratic) to cast a ballot. And the Supreme Court, which Donald Trump stacked with pro-Trump justices, is issuing rulings which will also make it harder for minorities and the elderly to cast a ballot. The Court, in effect, is telling Retrumplicans, "All you have to do is say you believe Trump's Big Lie about 'widespread voter fraud' and you can pass all the voting restrictions you want. We will approve." Democrats – who, unlike Retrumplicans, support democracy and free, fair elections – are trying to protect voting rights. Sadly, it is an uphill battle.

The veep is calling Americans living in rural areas stupid. Perhaps she should look inward to see the real stupidity. Her and dementia Joe make quite the pair.

Vice President Kamala Harris infuriated Americans on Saturday after she suggested voter ID laws don’t work because it’s “almost impossible” for rural Americans to photocopy their IDs.

Governor Greg Abbott said, "Texas Democrats' decision to break a quorum of the Texas Legislature and abandon the Texas State Capitol inflicts harm on the very Texans who elected them to serve." Actually, the Democrats' decision prevents the "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans from inflicting harm on voters. Any time you hear a Retrumplican say the proposed voting restrictions are to ensure "election integrity," you can be sure he's lying. The proposed restrictions are intended to make it much more difficult for minorities and the elderly to cast a ballot.

Paul Begala, Democratic stratefgist and CNN political commentator, laments that Texas Republicans are ignoring gun violence, hospital closures, power grid failures and other crises and are instead fixated on promoting Donald Trump's Big Lie that there was widespread voter fraud in 2020 and passing legislation to make it much harder for minorities and the elderly to cast a ballot. "Make no mistake," President Biden said today in a speech carried live on CNN and MSNBC, "bullies and merchants of fear, peddlers of lies, are threatening the very foundation of our country." Biden asked the Republicans who believe Donald Trump's Big Lie that the election was rigged and stolen and are working hard to pass voting restrictions, "Have you no shame?" I can answer that. No, the "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans have no shame. None at all. Fox News, a.k.a. the Trump Cheerleading Channel, did not carry Biden's speech. Neither did Newsmax or One America News. They choose to perpetuate The Big Lie and attack Democrats who are opposed to the Retrumplicans' efforts to make voting much more difficult for minorities and the elderly.

I think I can sum up the Retrumplicans' war on voting rights. They approve of anyone and everyone who votes for a Retrumplican – but they don't want anyone who favors Democrats to have the right to vote. We now have a Retrumplican Governor threatening to arrest House Democrats for fleeing the state. The "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans have no shame. None.

Texas Senate passes GOP elections bill after Democrats left the state to protest
    CNN, Jul 14 2021 6:21 PM ET

The Texas Senate passed a Republican-led election bill Tuesday night after 58 House Democrats fled the state to avoid voting on the measure. In a party-line vote of 18-4, Senate Republicans approved the controversial bill that Democrats and voters rights advocates say will suppress the votes of people of color and those with disabilities. The legislation will languish unless the Texas Democrats return to the state before the end of the 30-day special session called by GOP Governor Greg Abbott. “This bill was just the latest of Trump Republicans' attacks on democracy across Texas and our nation,” said Representative Ron Reynolds, one of the Democrats who fled. Abbott has threatened to arrest the state lawmakers when they return.
