Retrumplicans will not be truly satisfied until they can find a way to make it absolutely impossible for minorities and Democrats to cast a ballot.

Florida Senate passes bill restricting voting rights
The GOP-led legislation criminalizes giving water to voters in line, restricts ballot drop boxes, makes it harder to vote by mail and empowers partisan poll-watchers.

The shameless, "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans are not only doing everything they can to make it harder for minorities to cast a ballot, now they want to be able to challenge voters' qualifications and their right to vote. I picture a big, strong, menacing thug glaring at a voter and telling him, "You don't really want to vote for that Democrat, do you? Nah, you'd be much better off voting for the Republican. Ya get me?"

Republican state lawmakers look to empower partisan poll watchers, setting off alarms about potential voter intimidation
    CNN, May 2 2021 2:19 PM ET

Voting rights activists are sounding alarms about Republican efforts in key states to empower partisan poll watchers and expand voter challenges – arguing it could lead to voter intimidation that recalls dark chapters in US history. Bills in several states would grant new authority to poll watchers – who work on behalf of candidates and political parties – to observe voters and election workers. Critics say it could lead to conflict and chaos at polling places and an improper targeting of voters of color.

In Texas, a measure under consideration by the Republican-controlled legislature would grant partisan poll watchers the right to videotape voters as they receive assistance casting their ballots. In Florida, a sweeping election bill passed Thursday by Republicans in the state legislature specifies that partisan observers must be able see the ballots as canvassing boards work to authenticate voters' signatures on absentee ballots. There are no limits on how many ballots poll watchers can challenge. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, has indicated he will sign the law. In Georgia, the state's controversial new voting law makes it explicit that any Georgian can challenge the qualifications of an unlimited number of voters.

Retrumplicans know they can't come up with many reasons why Americans should vote for them. Instead, they're doing all they can to make it harder for minorities to cast a ballot. The shameless, "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans know minorities tend to vote for Democrats.

Another Retrumplican Governor has signed legislation intended to prevent election fraud – even though there was no election fraud in the 2020 election. The "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans are angry that a Democrat was elected President so they're doing everything they can to make it more difficult for minorities to vote.

There was no voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election – but that fact hasn't stopped Retrumplicans from imposing dozens of voting restrictions and claiming the intent is to prevent voter fraud. Retrumplicans' true purpose is to make voting much more difficult for minorities and the elderly. In Texas, the Retrumplicans' voter suppression bill initially was touted as preserving "the purity of the ballot box," a phrase used to disenfranchise black voters following the Civil War. Retrumplicans wound up removing the phrase. It made their anti-black stance way too obvious.

GOP lawmakers ultimately decided not to advertise the segregationist nature of the voting measure.

Retrumplicans tried – and failed – to overturn the results of a free and fair Presidential election. Retrumplicans' "Plan B" is to make it much more difficult for minorities and the elderly to cast a ballot. Retrumplicans have introduced more than 400 bills, in 48 states, that would impose new restrictions on voting. New restrictions have already been enacted in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. Democrats want to make it easier for people to vote – and Retrumplicans are 100% opposed. Let us hope voters remember this in 2022 and 2024 and prevent Retrumplicans from regaining control of the House and Senate.

So far this year, there have been more than 230 mass shootings in the United States – and Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make it easier for right-wing nuts to buy guns and carry them in public. In the 2020 Presidential election, there were 16 alleged cases of voter fraud out of 160,000,000 votes cast – and Retrumplicans are doing everything they can to make it harder for minorities to vote. We all need to remember this when we go to the polls in 2022 and 2024.

The "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans in Texas have lost a battle but they're not giving up. They're afraid of retribution from Donald Trump if they don't accept The Big Lie that he won the 2020 Presidential election but it was "stolen" from him – and then do all they can to make it much harder for minorities to vote. President Biden condemned the state's restrictive voting bill: "It’s wrong and un-American. In the 21st century, we should be making it easier, not harder, for every eligible voter to vote."

Democrats walk, stop Texas GOP's sweeping voting restrictions
The Associated Press, May 30 2021 11:54 PM ET

A restrictive voting bill in Texas that was on the verge of Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s desk failed to pass Sunday night after Democrats walked out of the House chamber before a midnight deadline. Abbott swiftly said he would call a special session to try passing a voting bill again but did not say when. “We've said for so many years that we want more people to participate in our democracy. And it just seems that's not the case,” Democratic state Reresentative Carl Sherman said.

The bill known as Senate Bill 7 would have imposed a raft of election changes that eliminate drive-thru voting, empower partisan poll watchers and impose new requirements in order to cast a ballot by mail in Texas, which already has some of toughest voting laws in the nation. About two hours before a midnight deadline to pass the bill, Democrats began filing out of the chamber in greater and greater numbers, denying Republicans the quorum necessary to hold a final vote. The walkout handed Republicans a rare defeat in the Texas Capitol where they wield overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate.

Believing The Big Lie that Trump won the 2020 Presidential election but it was "stolen" from him, Retrumplicans are doing all they can to make it harder for minorities, Democrats and the elderly to cast a ballot, One Retrumplican in particular is really becoming unhinged. His state already has some of the most restrictive voting laws in the nation and he's upset that the legislature was unable to make voting even harder.

I wonder if the anti-democracy, "win-at-all-costs" Retrumplicans ever consider that their voting restrictions will not only make it more difficult for minorities, Democrats and the elderly to cast a ballot, they will also make it more difficult for Retrumplicans to cast a ballot.

Harris to lead Biden administration's voting rights effort
    Reuters, Jun 1 2021 5:50 PM PDT

President Joe Biden today announced Vice President Kamala Harris will lead the administration's efforts on voting rights as Republican state lawmakers across the country attempt to enact voting restrictions. The efforts by Republican-led state legislatures to pass restrictive laws, which the White House and civil rights groups say make it harder for Americans to vote, follow former President Donald Trump's false claim that he lost the 2020 election because of widespread election fraud.

Biden said voting rights in the United States are "under assault" with an intensity he has never seen before. Harris said in a statement, "Our administration will not stand by when confronted with any effort that keeps Americans from voting. We must protect the fundamental right to vote for all Americans regardless of where they live."
