The judge said Dempsey was "dressed for battle." Dempsey is now dressed for prison.

Heroes. Patriots. Hostages. That is how Donald Trump refers to his blindly loyal supporters who believed his lies of a "rigged, stolen election" and obeyed his command to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell." On September 5 at his country club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump will honor them at an event called The J6 Awards Gala. Olivia Troye, former adviser to Mike Pence, said this is "absolutely horrid. Celebrating the people who endangered the life of his own Vice President and glorifying violence is a dangerous assault on our democracy and a disgraceful rewriting of history. We must all stand together against him."

Another of those Capitol insurrectionists whom Trump calls "heroes" and "patriots" will be going to prison. So far, more than 1,400 rioters have been arrested, more than 1,000 have been criminally charged and more than 500 have been sentenced to prison.

More than 1,400 blindly loyal Trump supporters obeyed Trump's command to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell." I wonder how many would have obeyed his command if he had added "and most of you will be arrested and hundreds of you will be sentenced to prison,"

Richmond told the judge, "It was wrong. It was foolish. It was not thought out." Hundreds of blindly loyal Trump supporters who took part in the deadly Capitol riot have acknowledged they were wrong – but the man who incited the riot will never admit he was wrong. He considers inciting the riot to be an act of patriotism because, after all, the 2020 election was "rigged" and "stolen" and he should be the President.
