Yeah, considering the assault was shown on live television and recorded on digital video, it would have been pointless to plead innocent.

Trump's blindly loyal supporters who believed his Big Lie of a stolen election and obeyed his command to "march to the Capitol and fight like hell" saw themselves as "patriots." Before sentencing Guy Reffitt, Judge Dabney Friedrich declared, "Under no legitimate definition of the term 'patriot' does Mr. Reffitt's behavior on January 6 fit the term. It is the antithesis of the word." The rioters are "a direct threat to our democracy and will be punished as such."

His lawyers insisted Trump is "immune from civil litigation" related to the deadly riot he incited. In other words, Trump is above the law. A district judge did not agree.

The Department of Justice has a long-standing policy of not announcing investigations or indictments of major political figures during an election year. This is to avoid the perception of politically motivated investigations and/or election interference. Last month, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow denounced the policy as an excuse for inaction against Trump.

“My eyes are on Fulton County first. Look at the Justice Department in 2023,” the former Obama attorney general told SiriusXM’s Urban View.

Thomas Robertson said he was prepared to fight a "civil war." There was nothing "civil" about the blindly loyal Trump supporters who believed his Big Lie of a stolen election and obeyed his command to march to the Capitol and "fight like hell."

In June 2022, prosecutors said Antonio LaMotta and Joshua Macias – blindly loyal Trump supporters who believed The Big Lie of a "rigged, stolen election" – were planning to commit a "mass shooting" over what they believed were "fake ballots." Both men also took part in the deadly, Trump-incited Capitol riot. Sad.

Katherine Schwab told friends she needed to go to the Capitol to "stop the steal." No, Catherine, what you needed to do was to not believe Donald Trump's lies about a "rigged" and "stolen" election.

After this blindly loyal Trump supporter completes his prison sentence, he will be under court supervision for three years. He also has to pay $2,000 in restitution. More than 100 rioters – so far – have received prison sentences. I'm sure Trump appreciates their loyalty and their belief in his Big Lie of a rigged, stolen election. Oh, wait. No, he doesn't. The only one Trump cares about is himself.

Trump begged his blindly loyal supporters to donate money to his Stop The Steal effort. Of course there was no "steal." Trump lost the 2020 election. Much of the money he raised has gone toward his legal bills. Last month, the Republican National Committee – which has already paid around $1,750,000 of Trump's legal bills – informed Trump that if he announces he's running for President, they will cease payments.

January 6 committee will dig in on the money behind the riot, Kinzinger says
Rep. Adam Kinzinger told NBC News' Meet The Press that Donald Trump's post-election fundraising efforts could be a "missing piece” in the investigation.
