Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer summed up the impeachment vote clearly and concisely: "This trial wasn't about choosing country over party. This was about choosing country over Donald Trump – and 43 Republican members chose Trump. They chose Trump." American voters will not forget this.

President Biden issued a statement which says, in part: "While the final vote did not lead to a conviction, the substance of the charge is not in dispute. Even those opposed to the conviction, like Senate Minority Leader McConnell, believe Donald Trump was guilty of a 'disgraceful dereliction of duty' and is 'practically and morally responsible for provoking' the violence unleashed on the Capitol. This sad chapter in our history has reminded us that democracy is fragile. That it must always be defended. That we must be ever vigilant. That violence and extremism has no place in America. And that each of us has a duty and responsibility as Americans, and especially as leaders, to defend the truth and to defeat the lies."

Yes, Trump is responsible for inciting an insurrection that left five people dead – and 43 Senate Retrumplicans, who have sold their souls to Donald Trump, still voted for acquittal.

Here is a portion of the statement issued by Donald Trump. The orange-skinned parrot is still squawking, "Witch hunt! Witch hunt! Awwrkkk!"

"It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate. This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country."

Yes, somebody did indeed "denigrate the rule of law," "cheer mobs" and "excuse rioters." His name is Donald Trump.

Trump said tonight the Make America Great Again movement has only just begun. I am sure he will run again in 2024. A few Republicans think the party should move on from Trump but it is obvious that he still rules the party. Today's vote proves that.

Republicans voted to convict Clinton for lying about having sex in the Oval Office (he was acquitted) but most of them voted to acquit Trump for inciting a deadly riot. This is shameful.

Several Republican Senators have been censured or rebuked by their own party because they dared to vote to convict Trump on the impeachment charge of inciting a riot. Trump was acquitted because the vote to convict fell short of the two-thirds majority needed. Ben Sasse is the latest Senator to be rebuked for failing to worship Trump as much as Trump worships himself. Trump still maintains an iron grip on the party – but why? And how?

The impeachment of Clinton was bullshit. He never should have been impeached. Having said that...please provide official documents that have confirmed Trump incited a deadly riot.

MAGA is just a slogan on a goofy cap. Donald Trump never explained what made America great and he never explained why he thinks America is no longer great. But he sold a lot of caps.
